Scott is the founder and CEO of H2X, a clean energy company.Previously, he was the co-founder and President of Independence Hydrogen, a NVBDC start-up building and operating waste-to-fuel facilities across the United States. IH commissioned the first clean hydrogen plant in Virginia as the launchpad for its I-95 fueling network and is a development partner in the Appalachian Regional Clean Hydrogen Hub (ARCH2).Before focusing on clean energy, he was the co-founder and CEO of CargoMetrics Technologies, a company that grew from a start-up into a recognized leader in machine learning systems measuring the 90% of global trade that moves by sea. Scott was also the co-founder and managing partner of a fully systematic commodity trading hedge fund seeded by Blackstone. A former Coast Guard Officer, he commanded the USCGC POINT SAL, served as the navigator onboard the USCGC DALLAS, and was an Assistant Professor at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. Scott is the founding managing director of CGA’s Institute for Leadership. He is also a former fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations (where he is a life member), a former senior research scholar at Columbia University, and a distinguished visitor at the National Defense University.Scott earned a B.S. in Government (with High Honors) from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy as well as M.A.L.D. and Ph.D. degrees from Tufts’ Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. He has earned 7 patents, published widely, and is active in a number of public service initiatives, including mentoring fellow military veteran entrepreneurs.
