ScrutineerSro Motorsports America Mar 2023 - PresentUnited StatesSRO Motorsports of Americal continues to provide some of the best GT Sportscar racing in the world! Focused on manufacturers and private customers, the series provides a huge platform for intense competition and some of the most advanced cars in the world. Having been with the series for the past six years, I now re-join the series in the Technical department as a Scrutineer, working to ensure all cars are compliant with the rules and regulations. Also, I help teams to install and manage the series required Racelink and Lunirank systems which allow real-time GPS tracking AND display of session positions for display on each car. This is getting much closer to the cars and teams. -
Scca StewardScca Club Racing Jan 2008 - PresentUPDATE - With the move to Maryland, I have rejoined the Club Racing program as a Steward. I am looking forward to engaging with so many friends and to meet new people from the East Coast. From 2013 to 2015 I was the Executive Steward for the Midwest Division with responsibility for all Club Racing activities in the division. It was a great privilege to work with the division and to work with the other Executives from around the country. All of these people are passionate about Club Racing and help it to succeed. After my early retirement in 2015 and moving to Idaho, I was no longer able to travel to as many club races, so enteree my dark period in the SCCA. The friendships and network built in my years as a Steward continue to serve me well to this day and helped me gain my new position with SRO Motorsports America.I held a national specialty license as a Steward, responsible for the operation of Club Racing events sanctioned under the Sports Car Club of America. Before that, I was a driver of a Sports 2000 for 13 years, and before that, I held a national Timing & Scoring license.

Owner - Building SageIntegrated Design + Energy Advisors, Llc Jul 2014 - PresentI have started ID+EA to broaden my voice in the built environment that has been a part of my life for over 34 years. From the very beginning in the late 70’s, I have been engaged and fascinated by both active and passive means to reduce energy use…and use our natural resources wisely. Then I worked with what we would now call a start-up parabolic intensifying solar collector system that could make high temperature water…ahead of its time, and killed by cheap natural gas.Look for more information soon, but the mission of ID+EA is to help owners and design teams to “Start Better; Reach Higher; Finish Strong”. Using my skills for facilitation and engagement, I want to help teams early in the design process to develop robust and goal oriented Owner Project Requirement documents, sustainability master plans, and help form what success looks like for particular clients and projects. The title Sage is not intended to inflate my ego…yes, I do feel that my experience over this long career has given me certain wisdom, hence the name, but I also truly hope to BUILD wisdom of the design team. Every day I learn something new, which makes this industry so exciting. We need real and durable changes in the way we design, build and operate our buildings…ID+EA wants to help lead the Built Environment to High Performance!

TimekeeperTiming Solutions Limited Jul 2020 - Oct 2022TSL is a worldwide leader in motorsports timing and scoring services. I had the honor of working beside them for 3 years when with SRO Motorsports America and the World Challenge series. Unfortunately, at the end of the 2022 season, TSLs contract was not extended. SROMA had decided to bring T&S in-house as part of USAC. I was a timekeeper working their events in the US and learned so many things so many new things. This was not my first time in Timing and Scoring, as this is where I started my motorsports journey with the SCCA gaining a national licence, cheifing many events in the midwest and working for SCCA Pro Racing at a few events in the 80's and 90's (specifically Trans-Am). -
Assistant Race DirectorSro Motorsports America Apr 2017 - Mar 2020I was slated for Race Director of a new single make series for 2020, but it was canceled before the first event and Race Control had contracts written and staffed. SRO is a great team and series, and I continue working along side them with my new gig with TSL Sports Timing. Worked in my dream position of Assistant Race Director to a talented team of Peter Roberts, Brian Hughes, Alain Alan, Brian Till and so many other super officials that work for the series. We have a new name, we are changing things, we are growing, and the competition is fierce. Come and see the GT World Challenge, you will not be disappointed! -

Energy Utilization External Subject Matter ExpertIowa Nsf Epscor Nov 2012 - Jul 2016Ames, IowaThe Iowa NSF (National Science Foundation) EPSCoR (Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research) is a program involving Iowa State University, University of Northern Iowa, and University of Iowa in a $22 million dollar 5 year program to improve research competitiveness by investing for five years in multi-institutional and interdisciplinary projects that build science andengineering infrastructure in the state. There are several platforms within the project with the goal that by 2016 Iowa will be a global leader in harnessing renewable energy available in thebiosphere instead of mining limited fossil energy. As the external reviewer, I met with the Energy Utilization platform leaders on a yearly basis to understand their progress, provide suggestions or guidance, and report to NSF as part of the project annual report. To allow renewable energy to reach full potential, the overall energy use must be reduced through efficiencies, so the Energy Utilization platform recognizes the important role that the social sciences play in improving energy utilization and aims to evaluate the effects of human behaviors and building systems on energy consumption. The project is now complete, and was very successful, with significant high quality research that will help move energy efficiency in buildings and homes to higher performance.

Past Board Member And ChairUsgbc Iowa Chapter 2010 - Jul 2016The Iowa Chapter of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) is a mission driven organization which seeks to promote and enable the integration of sustainable practices into Iowa’s built environment. The USGBC is best known for the Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design, or LEED, standard. This is a way to measure, document, and prove the sustainability of a project beyond just energy. LEED is a tool, not the end result, and the Iowa Chapter is looking for long term change in the way we build buildings. I was the Board Chair for 2015 during the transition to an integrated chapter in USGBC National, and left in 2016 as Past Board Chair after move to Idaho. -

Their daughter Katie is the team promotional and marketing professional, and their son Andrew is the talented driver stepping up to the professional ranks. As a long term Club Racing driver, not a bad wrench, and a Steward, I will be helping the Lists and the rest of the crew at select events around the country. For 2016, they are moving to the highly competative MX5 Cup, which is a true test of driver abilities, as everyone drives a spec MX5. The car is new this year, so everyone is starting with a new book, and while I will not be with them as crew, my heart will be cheering them on!
