________________________________________________________________I understand the details... but don't get lost in themI respect the past... but I don't fear change - I lead itI work under the most stressful conditions... but I don't lose my cool or sense of humorI am passionate about what I believe... at work and at homeI may not be an expert on everything... but I know when I am being snowed________________________________________________________________I have worked in the semiconductor industry for more than 30 years. I am an engineer at heart; someone who loves problem solving, data, and working on great teams. I have managed people in this industry for many years. I understand the difficulties of leading in such a cyclical business, keeping people's hearts and minds in the game while at the same time getting the most out of them. The semiconductor industry is built on collaboration. Some of my most gratifying positions have been in a highly matrixed environment, where experts from many companies have been part of my organization. When it is done right, company names blur, and there is just One Team.I also strongly believe that successful people need to focus on giving back. Like many of us, I’ve become intimately familiar with stress over the years; mental wellness is such a critically important resource that we need to cultivate. To that end, I use my years of personal experience with meditation to teach others how to manage stress and learn to live their best livesLeadership is something you don't turn off after work. That's why I am a volunteer in the Boy Scouts of America. I pass along what I learn to the leaders of tomorrow. Life's lessons are often found outside, not in a classroom or a meeting.

Director Of Capabilities, Chips National Semiconductor Technology Center ProgramU.S. Department Of Commerce Jan 2024 - PresentWashington, Dc, UsWe are facing a generational change in semiconductors, with unprecedented investment in the US to maintain and increase our technological advantage, and to secure domestic supply. I've worked with the government for years during my career in industry, but never in the government itself. This is a unique opportunity too interesting to pass up to drive change for the country, so I'm excited to see where it leads. -
FounderBreaking Free Mindfulness Llc Jan 2022 - PresentTeaching mindfulness meditation for stress reduction and how to live your best life was always my "post-retirement" plan. If the past few years of craziness have taught us anything, it is that we have no idea what the future holds. With that in mind, "now" seemed like the right time to start giving back. -
Director Of Business Development, Aerospace & Defense, Strategic AccountsSynopsys Inc Oct 2021 - Dec 2023Sunnyvale, California, UsWith the US finally reacting to the importance of a robust, national semiconductor strategy, it was time to return to that industry and help grow it. Synopsys is a key leader in enabling that strategy, so it was a perfect fit for my interests in the intersection of technology and our national security. -
Vice President Of Business DevelopmentEmagin Corporation Jul 2020 - Oct 2021Hopewell Junction, Ny, UsAfter many years of working in the semiconductor industry, I got very comfortable in my various job roles. Whenever you get too comfortable, it is time to move on and challenge yourself again. What better way than to switch industries entirely?eMagin fit the bill for a lot of reasons; cool technology, US-based manufacturing, local, and lots of room to grow given the impending explosion of AR/VR devices that is coming in the next few years. This is a great company with great people, and I'm exciting about growing with them. -
Sr. Director Of Sales, Us-East And Ww Aerospace & DefenseGlobalfoundries Jan 2020 - Jun 2020Malta, Ny, UsAfter 5 years of managing our end-to-end Aerospace and Defense business, it was time for some broadening experience with commercial semiconductor companies. While I continued to have responsibilities for the A&D accounts I was involved with in the past, I added key commercial account coverage across the East Coast of the USA. -
Sr Director, Aerospace And Defense Business UnitGlobalfoundries Jul 2015 - Jan 2020Malta, Ny, UsIBM sold its Microelectronics Division to GLOBALFOUNDRIES in July of 2015. Working on that transaction for the better part of 18 months, I had a chance to think hard about what I wanted to do next. I knew I wanted to continue to work in the front-end of the business cycle, and who I am as a person is so intertwined with my love of country, that this job leading sales and business development in the Aerospace & Defense business was the perfect fit. -

World Wide Sales And Brand Team, Ibm Microelectronics DivisionIbm Jan 2013 - Jun 2015Armonk, New York, Ny, UsTechnical / Exec Assistant to VP, World Wide Sales and Brand OrganizationI took this growth assignment after more than a dozen years working in process development, integration, and yield engineering. Suddenly I found myself not looking at electrons or molecules, but revenue, profit, and fab load. This exposure to the front-end, client-facing part of the business has provided me tremendous insight into how the overall machine functions.Any business is filled with really smart people. All those smart people generate tremendous amounts of data, but what does it all really mean? As a technical expert working in a business position, I am able to find the patterns in the data, link them with market insight, and translate them into meaningful actions. I help the senior exec team "fill in the gaps" between all the different layers of the organization. I have worked on issues in the 200mm radio frequency / wireless segment, 300mm Custom Logic (ASIC) business, and many other areas. In addition, I provide thought-leadership on organizational and cultural issues in the organization, leading to positive changes.I pride myself on being a great communicator, and I get a thrill when complex data analysis or difficult ideas can get synthesized into simple, high-impact recommendations. They say you really only understand something once you teach it, and that is a lot of what I do. My communications were reported upward to highest ranks of IBM executive management. -
Functional Manager, 20Nm Integration And Device DevelopmentIbm Semiconductor R&D Center, Systems & Technology Group Sep 2010 - Dec 2012"Functional manager" in IBM parlance is an up-line manager responsible for an organization covering a big chunk of the semiconductor product cycle. In this role, I managed the 20nm low power technology that IBM and its joint development partners developed for wireless applications, tablets, etc. I managed two large groups; one of device engineers and technicians responsible for delivering the power-performance targets of the technology, and another of integration engineers/techs with broad responsibilities in process development and delivery to the SRAM yield targets expected by our customers.Additionally in this role, I had responsibility for the technology definition, overall schedule, and was the key interface with the manufacturing teams. My organization was highly matrixed, with a large number of alliance partners from several companies reporting to me in addition to IBMers. I acted as the voice of the overall alliance for this technology, reporting continuously to executives from four different companies who had a stake in this technology.Key skills exercised in this role: Project management, technical leadership, matrix management, yield learning, defect reduction, negotiation, and people management

Functional Manager, Advanced Lithography And Etch DevelopmentIbm Semiconductor R&D Center, Systems & Technology Group Feb 2006 - Sep 2010I managed 6 organizations spanning two sites in this role, consisting of over 100 employees, including more than 30 employees of other companies integrated into my IBM team as part of a joint development alliance. Two groups were responsible for lithography development and integration, two for plasma etch development, an exposure and metrology tooling group, and a lithography research team.Key skills exercised in this role: immersion lithography, EUV, multiple patterning, design co-optimization, DFM, materials R&D, organizational management, salary and bonus planning, and vendor management.

Advisory EngineerIbm Microelectronics May 1998 - Feb 2000Responsible for 0.13 um DRAM lithography development Developed novel methods for extending KrF lithography to sub-0.15um nodes and below. Managed resources, milestone planning, and implementation of advanced lithography processes in development and production. Worked closely with other unit process groups, process integration, and design to optimize and implement effective state-of-the-art lithography solutions. Performed detailed analysis to minimize the effects of lens aberrations on product patterns Developed new methods for measurement and quantification of lens aberrations in exposure tools; techniques and learning were applied to actual products.
