- Team management: Lead two engineering teams spread over Japan, India, Vietnam, and Singapore (total of 15 people). Assign tasks, provide guidance/mentorship, interview/hire/onboard, counsel/discipline/offboard- Communication and leadership: Act as a liaison between engineers and senior management. Communicate project status/progress/risks to stakeholders, advocate for the team's needs and resources.- Project management: oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of my section's two primary projects, and many smaller (often ad hoc) ones.- Technical guidance: Help with problem solving, offer technical advice, and contribute to architectural decisions- Collaboration and planning: Work closely with other teams and stakeholders, such as product management, financial control, sourcing&contracts, and vendor management to ensure our projects align with overall business objectives.- Process improvements: help the team identify and implement process improvements through streamlining and/or automating tasks, connecting systems together, or standardizing workflows

- Reporting and visualization of financial (cost) information. Eg. Budget v Forecast, Budget v Actual, Forecast accuracy, spending trends, outlier detection, headcount / hiring analysis, etc.- Maintain and extend internal-use data warehouse of financial information from across Rakuten Japan and Singapore.- Integration with Rakuten group financial systems (API using Python, direct DB connection, ingesting files through cloud services, emailed files, and direct updated by local cost controllers)- Reporting to department management, senior management, and to CEO. Mostly through DOMO BI with some Excel and email-based reports.

With one foot on the technical side and one foot on the business side, I help both groups understand each other's needs and enable them to work together to achieve Rakuten's larger goals. My main focus is helping client companies integrate with Rakuten's global services platform (Member ID/Profile, Payment, Super Points, etc). This frees them up to focus more of their attention on making their own offerings even more compelling.- Educate client company dev teams on every aspect of connecting to Rakuten's core systems.- Representing our users in Product design and improvement meetings (Specifically related to the UX of user account signup and management)- L1/L2 troubleshooting client connections. Coordinating L3+ troubleshooting with primary development teams- New client configuration, IP whitelisting, and generally working internally with a wide range of teams to get the job done
