Dsp Engineer
Senior Lead Engineer
Lead engineer supporting the Colorado Springs Engineering Center of Booz Allen. Primarily support Position, Navigation and Timing (GPS/GNSS-related services) projects, also support radar upgrade and enhancement project.
Rf Engineer
Support US Air Force Space Test & Training Range (STTR), including designing custom test equipment for closed-loop emulation of satellite transponders and providing engineering support for STTR customer events, as well as designing, executing and analyzing results from satellite communication experiments.• Designed and implemented custom RF test equipment emulating multiple satellite transponders, including tunable transponders with appropriate filtering and user-defined transponder translation frequencies, thereby emulating the RF uplink to RF downlink transponder function of a satellite.• Supported customer events on the STTR, including designing signal plans for events, configuring equipment to meet customer-specific requirements and providing general engineering support, as well as developing capabilities descriptions and new tools to facilitate the planning of such events.• Trained on and operated five different types of Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) networks, and developed training material for engineering group within STTR as well as STTR customers.• Performed numerous experiments pertaining to the limitations and effectiveness of certain satellite communication links, including design of experiment, execution of the experiment either in a closed-loop environment or over a satellite link, analysis of the extensive data collected, and authorship of engineering reports detailing the findings based on analysis of the data.
Senior Rf Engineer
Designed & developed individual antennas and phased-array antennas for applications ranging from satellite antennas, covert concealed antenna arrays, and wideband, wide-scan-volume, low-observable arrays, as well as the associated active and passive circuitry for feeding those arrays.• Designed & developed processes for fabrication of individual antennas for guidance of advanced weapons systems, resulting in antennas capable of maintaining the RF link for guidance in a highvelocity environment and withstanding excessive G-forces during launch.• Designed & developed processes for fabrication of the passive aperture portion of widebandwidth, wide-scan-volume, low-observable phased-array antennas, resulting in state-of-the-art phased-array antenna technology for defense applications.• Designed & developed processes for fabrication of a very-wideband fixed-beam phased-array antenna for covert signal detection, resulting in a single portable low-profile antenna that replaced a full suite of antennas for signal interception over a wide bandwidth. Produced a complete set of production documentation for this product (detailed operations sheets, drawings, acceptance test procedures, and programs for automated processing of test data).• Designed two custom high-gain low-profile fixed-beam phased-array antenna systems for covert communication links, resulting in concealed antenna systems deployed in the field.• Designed the active portion of two electrically-scanned phased-array antennas (one for the transmit command data link array for the TACSAT-II satellite), including the corporate feed network, power amplifiers, and switched-line phase shifters, with the associated biasing circuitry.
Senior Rf Engineer
Involved in new product development, analyzed system-level benefits of company’s products in wireless communication systems, and managed extensive field trials of company’s products in customers’ networks.• Defined architecture & requirements for new products in the wireless communication industry.• Analyzed the system-level benefits of the company’s products for wireless service providers.• Managed field trials of the company’s products in customers’ wireless communication networks.
Member Of Technical Staff
Performed both theoretical & empirical studies pertaining to wireless communications and evaluated new technologies from outside sources for application in the company’s wireless networks.• Performed both analytical & experimental studies of methods for improving and/or optimizing PCS-band CDMA systems and other potential wireless communication systems for the company.• Evaluated new technologies for possible application in the company’s wireless network.• Provided analysis support for the implementation of a new wideband wireless data service.
Project Engineer
Managed the development of new products for the wireless communication industry and performed analyses to quantify the expected system-level benefits of the company’s products.• Managed the development of a few of the company’s first prototype cryogenically-cooled towertop amplifier & filter systems for wireless communication systems.• Conducted extensive field trials of equipment in the customers’ wireless networks, and analyzed the results, providing the service providers with quantifiable benefits of the company’s products.• Directed development of new products for the wireless communication industry, including defining functionality & specifications for new products, managing engineering development of specific products, and performing analysis of the expected system-level benefits of the products.
