We understand art idealistically, a priori, as the purest activity. The joy of creation, like love, transcends time. Our great purpose is to work in a free atmosphere1. A lack of money will not prevent participation. Bring what you can to each class (at least as much as the cost of a bottle of wine or the going rate to see a movie.)2. If money is no problem, then a lump sum will be donated to the general ‘kitty’.3. There will be no grades, no competition, and no government intervention or collusion. Compliance with ordinances and insurance requirements of any business will be strict; to avoid legal hassels.4. There will be frequent gallery shows, screenings, plays, recitals, poetry nights and lectures presented by teachers to ensure revenue for equipment, salaries, rent and utilities.5. Trade will be encouraged. For example, one might donate an etching press worth many thousands of dollars in lieu of cash for tuition.Training to become a true artist consists of emotion, brain and body working harmoniously. This takes practice.Our practice will be the study of the crafts of all the arts and the transmission of real knowledge of the practical laws and techniques; both traditional and current. Let those who know tell those who do not know. But we are all equal. Of course a subliminal hierarchy will be common and even a teenager may have an authority lacking in the elders. We can all learn from each other through exchanges and healthy argument.
