I developed Tibco Business Works and Business Events applications, integrated via Web Services with multiple vendors, to perform real-time scoring of external data for point-of-sale systems. The application processed more than 350K transactions per day and included batch and real-time interfaces.To increase our responsiveness to business needs, I developed iTKO Lisa automated functional tests at the unit and component level which were then incorporated into regression suites. My responsibilities included:· Lead a cohesive, mixed-source, team through a significant transition from a mainframe-based data broker to an in-house TIBCO application. The SOA application is responsible for retrieving external data (Credit, Loss Information, Motor Vehicle Reports, etc.) and processing business rules upon it (scoring). As the enterprise architect responsible for web content management (WCM) at Allstate, I was asked to identify and solve highly visible challenges with a shared infrastructure. With the help of my team, I quickly discovered that the lack of stability and resulting user confidence in the service was primarily due to lack of governance. After the root cause was discovered, I immediately set to work communicating the need for executive buy-in to support efforts to make the required changes. With management support, I initiated a number of projects, each geared to improve a key area of the WCM service. For instance, common components were created to ensure cross-application consistency and speed development.
