As Kirklees Council's Participation Officer, I have re-launched and managed the Independent Visitor Scheme, the Kirklees Pledge to Looked After Children, Website for Young People in Care and the Children in Care Council which has elements for children and young people over and under 13 years.I developed and managed the Children in Care Council Professionals Online Network (www.ciccnet.ning.com) hosting over 100 local authorities and organisations. In 2012 and 2013 I led a team of officers from across the region to run a weekend residential in the Lake District for Children in Care Councils across the UK, sharing best practise and working collaboratively on common issues. These events have been supported by Brathay Trust, Who Cares Trust and the young advisory group to the Children's Minster. I developed the role and had line management responsibility for Kirklees' Participation Apprentices, a role ring fenced for Kirklees Care Leavers.I project managed the Achieve Awards Ceremony for Kirklees Care Leavers as part of National Care Leavers Week. This event celebrates the achievements of young people in care and became an annual event in Kirklees.
