For health and family reasons, I had to retire, from working day to day on Software, in Jan./Feb. 2015. I have been spending time with family, and taking care of my wife. We have moved into a new home, and we are trying to make our new life as comfortable and exciting as we can! The realities of the time I have made it necessary to create a portfolio of investments for us that would require little management and maximum output. We live day to day, with the Lord's help, seeking to follow Him in all we do.

Spent the past 4 months building an iPhone application for Shuttle Reservations. We based it loosely on what competitors are doing, while adding a bit of specialty. Framework communicates via TCP/IP to the robot control system and via TAP (Telelocator Alphanumeric Protocol) to a POCSAG transmitter (via 3rd party software) for transmission to handheld pagers.- Wrote JNI routines to allow Java applications to communicate with Automated Guided Vehicles Control System (written in C)

I spent a year working in the Millworks Department selling doors and windows. That particular department requires expertise on the computer, as you must enter custom orders into a special ordering system. It was my first experience in retail and it proved to be very valuable, prior to that I really had no idea what sales was all about.

JonesKnowledge was going to try to build an Online Education site to host millions of users. I was hired as the project was ramping up. I became one of the Software Designers who took the initial design and implemented that design in J2EE. We built the system over the first 12 months, went live, spent time optimizing and rewriting and by about the 18th month we had a system that was pretty close to the specified system. It was large, fast, scalable and had already signed up nearly 100k seats. Unfortunately, following 9/11/2001, many systems and organizations went the way of the dinosaurs. This system was one of them. Still, it was not a failure, it was a learning exercise for all of us, albeit expensive for JonesKnowledge.
