About Scott Delman

Since the early 1990s, my focus has been on the information services and digital media industries with a particular emphasis on scholarly and professional level information. My expertise includes Executive and Senior Level Management, Digital Media Strategy, New Product Development, Business Development, Mergers & Acquisitions, Magazine Publishing, Scholarly Journal Publishing, Book Publishing, Editorial & Content Development, and Sales & Marketing. In 2002, I co-led the management buy-out of a leading multi-national professional publishing and information services company and played an integral role in developing this business into the number two player in what is today a roughly $20+ bln. global industry. Prior to this, I served as Kluwer’s Vice President of Publishing and Vice President of Electronic Publishing, with overall management responsibility for Kluwer’s Hard Sciences publishing division, a roughly $80mln business unit with over 125 staff based in the United States, Europe, and the United Kingdom. As Vice President of Electronic Publishing, I was responsible for Kluwer’s overall digital publishing strategy and operations, and oversaw the company’s ongoing transition from print to electronic publication leading up to and following Kluwer Academic’s divestment from parent company Wolters Kluwer.I am currently the Director of Publications for the Association for Computing Machinery, the computing industry’s leading professional member organization, and have general management responsibility for the Association’s Publishing Operation and overall Publications Strategy. In my spare time, I have become actively involved, at the Board level, in a number of the scholarly publishing communities most innovative and impactful non-profits, including CrossRef, CHORUS, Portico, SocPC, and arXiv.
