I am the IT Director of a growing company, managing everything from cell phones and laptops to our data center and hosted services. We are upgrading our infrastructure with security and availability in mind. When I started, the company had no domain, and now we've got virtualized servers running Windows and Linux and we're connected to cloud-based security products to watch over our staff wherever their work takes them. We're working on a custom-built mobile app to streamline a large number of business processes that will help us manage our staff, asset tracking, training and certifications, and cash flows.

My position at WTITC places me in the trenches alongside a diverse client base solving a wide range of business challenges with technology. Virtualization, mobile device integration, remote access to office assets, server configuration and security, and many related tasks are part of my daily regimen. I continue to advocate for Linux and best-in-class open source tools when they are a fit for client needs and budgets. As the founder of SDI, I continue to provide Computer Consulting, Troubleshooting, Networking, Web Hosting and Design, Software Development, and Software Integration services. Currently, the company is specializing in Linux systems and virtualization solutions. We are helping businesses switch to Linux Servers and Linux desktops, and building a strong business case for alternative operating systems and open source software. SDI has grown beyond a one-person shop operating from my home to a thriving business with a number of skilled employees each bringing new levels of customer service skills and techinical competencies. We are having fun and helping people at the same time. I can't think of anything better than that.

Maintained and authored applications for real-time data collection of vehicle crash tests. Wrote programs to analyze and plot collected data. Worked with a team to create software for traffic safety enforcement. Helped maintain computer hardware and manage a token-ring Novell network that was later upgraded to Ethernet and Windows networking. Occasionally assisted the staff filmographer in shooting documentary footage of crash tests (both stills and film). Basically, I got paid to meet great people and have fun.
