I led the Behavioral Health Service Line for the Indiana Army National Guard coordinating all uniformed officers, enlisted personnel and government contractors. Working alongside the State Surgeon (Chief Medical Officer) and Deputy State Surgeon (Chief Operating Officer) in the highly matrixed military medical environment, I envisioned and implemented one of the Nation's flagship National Guard Behavioral Health Systems of Care capable of delivering accessible, high-quality, clinically-effective, and cost-sensitive services to our more than 12,000 geographically dispersed Service Members. I provided fiscal, strategic, and operational direction for the program by overseeing all aspects of the Service Line, including mission and vision, quality of services, outcome analytics, Soldier experience, and financial management. I worked to ensure the Service Line was aligned with organizational objectives, Service Member’s needs, and employee growth and success. I led in innovation thinking and implementation of programs that brought together technology, resources and people in a manner that reduced costs, produced better clinical outcomes, and improved the lives of Service Members and families. I served as a federal DOD contractor detailed to the NGB Joint Surgeon’s Office. Alongside the NGB Director of Psychological Health, I was a primary adviser to the Joint Surgeon and Chief, NGB on the psychological readiness of approximately 465,000 Air and Army National Guard members. As a forward-facing senior adviser, I interacted with executive leadership across the DOD and within other key federal and state agencies and private organizations. I advised nearly 600 geographically dispersed uniformed and contracted behavioral health professionals and monitored the psychological health programs in all 54 National Guard states and territories. I helped establish the new Warrior Resilience and Fitness (WRF) directorate bringing all Soldier and Airman behavioral health and support programs together in a coordinated manner promising better care at lower cost and leading to better health outcomes and increased readiness. I played a major role in initiating data analytic efforts to better understand, predict, and alter key behavioral health metrics across the NG enterprise (e.g., Service Member suicides). I developed minimally specified standards for behavioral healthcare across the National Guard and assisted numerous states in implementing these standards. I conceptualized and helped birth the NGB WRF Innovation Incubator creating a systematic process for discovering new ideas, funding promising programs (we acquired $9M in new appropriations), evaluating new and existing efforts, and expanding and disseminating best practices.

While doing business as Pediatric Psychology Center, Lighthouse Family Counseling and Get Your Brain in the Game®, I directed all clinical and business aspects of a multidisciplinary group mental health practice. I led more than 10 clinical providers and an accounts receivable of approximately $1.2M. I oversaw all value creation, marketing, patient recruitment, service delivery, and financial activities for the corporation. I provided direct clinical care to children, adolescents, parents, and families. I built close working relationships with primary care physicians earning the preponderance of referrals from local pediatricians and neurologists as well as many family practice physicians.
