About Scott Everett

My career has focused on creating impactful products, features, and programs that achieve meaningful, bottom-line results, with a strong focus on understanding and meeting user needs through data-driven insights. I thrive in environments where I can learn and adapt quickly. This has exposed me to a range of technologies, industries, and business challenges, and I'm at my best when ramping up on entirely new problem spaces.Currently, I manage product and technology for gearpatrol.com and dpreview.com, operating at the intersection of publishing, journalism, product development, monetization, and content marketing.Other random facts:I produced an Emmy award winning documentary short film, am a lifelong photographer, hunt mushrooms in the mountains of Washington whenever they are in season, enjoy mindful meditation, and was a cook in an Italian restaurant for three years in my younger days.

    General Manager, Product And Technology
Gear Patrol Jul 2023 - Present
    Seattle, Washington, United States
Reporting to the CEO, I manage the product roadmap, feature development, monetization technology, engineering, strategic planning, and site performance for gearpatrol.com and dpreview.com. This journey began when I collaborated with Amazon Corporate Business Development to perform due diligence and discovery with over 20 different companies that expressed interest in acquiring DPReview from Amazon. Once Gear Patrol was identified as the best fit, I managed the operational and technical integration of DPReview into Gear Patrol, including a full AWS Infrastructure migration, an entirely new identity management solution for customer accounts, and a fresh monetization tech stack. After the integration work was complete, my role has expanded to include strategic and operational oversight of both DPReview.com and gearpatrol.com, forming a new division in the company called Product and Technology. Key Achievements:• Launched a new programmatic advertising stack for both sites, achieving 2.5X increase in daily revenue• Redesigned and relaunched the DPReview newsletter, updating one of the longest running aspects of the brand (25 years in total), with a focus on deepening scroll depth, engagement time, and subscriber retention.• Overhauled the affiliate linking strategy and CX for DPReview, with a focus on enabling our Editorial team to more easily drive readers to the best retailers. • Migrated a range of AWS services to CloudFlare to reduce costs and improve uptime management and alerting across both sites.• Shepherded the launch of a new, custom WordPress site and CMS for gearpatrol.com, transitioning from third-party development to in-house engineering using a phased approach.

Key achievements include:• Supported the business planning, feature roadmap definition, and eventual launch, of a boutique DPReview branded retail store.
