Chief Financial Officer
Managing Director, Corporate Advisory
As the leader of a team responsible for originating and executing listed and private capital markets transactions across the debt and equity capital spectrum my time was spent working with numerous large and emerging companies, and engaging with a broad range of institutional investors, superannuation funds and private client advisors. The role required me to regularly advise senior management and Boards regarding market conditions, investor appetite and feedback, and transaction dynamics.I was responsible for driving team strategic outcomes consistent with broader organisational objectives and was a member of internal transaction related approval and compliance committees as well as being an AFSL Responsible Manager. I also acted as a mentor to several junior staff (from analyst to director level) to create a high performing and diverse team.
Senior Vice President | Investment Banking
During my tenure at Macquarie I gained extensive experience across a broad variety of corporate finance initiatives with a focus on capital raisings and capital management as a member of, and leader in, the Equity Capital Markets team. My expertise in developing innovative financing solutions across ‘hybrid’ capital products was widely recognised in addition to raising funds for clients including through IPOs, listed equity raisings and sell-downs, listed and unlisted subordinated debt, bespoke bilateral funding, convertible bonds, listed regulatory capital and a variety of hybrid capital instruments. My role involved both identifying and developing suitable financing arrangements for clients as well as transaction leadership across a wide variety of stakeholders including senior management (eg CEO, CFO, Treasurer) and external advisers (financiers, legal, accounting, tax, investor relations, ratings agencies, logistical service providers, public relations, private equity sponsors).I was also involved in staff training and career management initiatives, graduate and intern recruitment, and acted as a formal and informal mentor.
Equities Research Analyst
I was a key member of a top-rated, Pan-European, equities research team with responsibility for telecommunications and associated equipment, semiconductors, and electronic and electrical equipment. My role included acting as lead analyst on Schneider Electric (an electrical distribution and automation business) and Epcos (a manufacturer of electronic components, modules and systems), with secondary responsibility for several other major corporates including Nokia (largest stock by market capitalization in Europe at the time) and Siemens (global conglomerate). My success in this role required:• A deep understanding of key business drivers – quantitative and qualitative – developed in a short time frame across a diverse group of businesses;• Detailed corporate modelling and financial analysis; and• High quality report writing, often under significant time pressure, analysing financial results and corporate actions, and for general thematic research.
Executive | Project Finance
Within the the Public Private Partnerships Team (PPP / PFI) I specialised in providing advisory services to Government and the private sector in regards to delivering major Australian infrastructure projects. This advice included feasibility assessment and business case preparation, option evaluation and financial modelling.
Associate | Corporate Finance And Assurance & Advisory
Whilst completing my undergraduate degree at the University of Melbourne I also commenced my professional career as a cadet in the Assurance and Advisory division. During this time I worked as an audit team member and manager for a variety of blue chip organisations across insurance, funds management, leisure and hospitality, automotive and superannuation funds.Following University I achieved an internal transfer to the Corporate Finance group where I focussed on providing financial and strategic analysis and due diligence related advice.
