By connecting with community and business leaders, our department can build a business environment conducive to growth. My responsibilities include administering our business retention and expansion program, conducting economic and demographic research for RFI response and internal services, and designing and producing informational marketing collateral. I also manage the county’s procedures for vetting, negotiating, and monitoring various local tax incentive programs, in collaboration with or on behalf of our local jurisdictions. Ultimately, through collaboration with local administrators, utility partners, business and development leaders, and community partners, our department strives to help Clermont County grow.

The Center for Great Neighborhoods in Covington, Kentucky is a non-profit community development corporation, specializing in real estate development/activation and neighborhood social services. This position was of particular interest to me as I am a Covington resident eager to have an active role in positively impacting the community. Experience included inventorying existing and previous real estate projects, tracking total market value change in CGN's real estate portfolio, designing a web page for showcasing CGN's real estate portfolio, and aiding in organizing and running a community event.

During my time with the City of Cincinnati's Department of City Planning, I was engaged in both daily and specialized planning activities throughout my summer co-op experience. My primary task was to research and draft Staff Reports on legislative or quasi-judicial City Planning Commission items, with the ultimate deliverable being a pamphlet containing a report and recommendation, relevant maps, site plans, and any other material deemed necessary. Additionally, I was tasked with presenting one of my Staff Reports and recommendations to the City Planning Commission at City Hall.During my experience I was also participated in an ongoing study on the possible impacts of a potential inclusionary zoning policy in Cincinnati's West End neighborhood. Research included compiling case studies on other inclusionary zoning policies and creating a pamphlet outlining the basic impetus, design and implementation of peer city policies. From the research I outlined potential next steps, policy tools, and offered recommendation on the feasibility and design of a potential inclusionary zoning policy in the West End. The totality of my work culminated in a presentation to the Department of City Planning and the Department of Community and Economic Development for the City of Cincinnati.
