I am the Managing Partner of GAILLE PLLC, an 8-lawyer energy boutique. My legal practice focuses on:(i) construction/services agreements for energy facilities, including pipeline, wind, solar, carbon capture, energy storage, and refineries; (ii) domestic and international exploration/production; and (iii) serving as outside general counsel to energy companies.  I also am a Lecturer in Law at The University of Chicago Law School (since 2013), where I teach the Energy Law Seminar and the Energy Transactions Seminar.  Several of my Chicago students have joined GAILLE PLLC. My teaching started at Rice University (Adjunct Professor of Management at Rice University from 2008 to 2022), where I taught International Energy Development and Energy Infrastructure courses to MBA students.  I have authored eight peer-reviewed articles in the Energy Law Journal and a ninth in The University of Chicago's The Journal of Legal Studies.Prior to starting GAILLE PLLC, my experience included: Chief Compliance Officer, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary for a NASDAQ-listed energy company; six years with Occidental Petroleum, where (as Director - Business Development) I originated transactions in Africa, the Middle East, and South America; the Energy Section of Vinson & Elkins; and judicial clerk to the Honorable Chief Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson, III of the United States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit.I received my Doctor of Law Degree (with High Honors 1995) from The University of Chicago. As a participant in the Law & Economics Workshop there, I had the privilege of analyzing issues with Nobel Laureates Ronald Coase and Gary Becker, and working as a research assistant to The Honorable Judge Richard Posner of the United States Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit. I went to college at The University of Texas at Austin (Bachelor of Arts degree in Government with High Honors and Phi Beta Kappa). Growing up in a small town in South Texas, I dreamed of seeing the world. Energy law has enabled me to travel to more than 150 countries (Travelers' Century Club), including a 3-year posting with Oxy in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
