Having been involved in animal care and protection for over 20 years, I have gained experience in many different areas:Direct animal care - spent several years working hands on in an animal adoption center responsible not only for daily care but for adoptions, pet surrender consultations, medical triage and primary humane educator.Animal Care and Control field work - previously the Chief field officer responsible for all animal control and animal cruelty investigations in the District of Columbia. Prior to that was a special state police officer in Massachusetts assigned to investigate and prosecute animal cruelty allegations in the city of Boston. Lead efforts to combat dog fighting activities through innovative partnership with the Boston Police anti-gang task force. Fundraising & community outreach - responsible for regional efforts to gain corporate partnerships, special events, media relations, volunteer recruitment and coordination and for heightening the awareness of the organizations priorities through public speaking venues. Oversaw several highly successful community based programs designed to reduce animal intake and euthanasia. Media relations - Oversaw statewide communications and media relations through building partnerships with various media outlets acting as organization's primary spokesperson.Legislative efforts - Assisted in the drafting and lobbying of many laws designed to protect animals of all species.
