I am always striving to expand my knowledge base and always aim to achieve the highest standard possible. My first business was selling fertilizer to my parents when I was 5 or 6 years old. I managed to kill my mum's favourite plant, but that didn't stop me. I was then on selling "Down to Earth moon cookies", a tasty milk chocolate cookie filled with M&M's at my local school at age 8. I learnt about basic costing through these cookies, and still have an image of the original poster on my phone (absolutely riddled with spelling mistakes).It was time to scale up, and by the time I was at Waihi prep school, I had moved on to importing fidget spinners to sell at school. In a very simple version of drop shipping, I would charge customers double my Aliexpress buy price, and only order the product once paid for in full. I think I made about $250-300 selling these toys, and at the time, that felt like all the money in the world.I was then off making knives, something which I started at the end of primary school and continued all the way until the end of high school. My company Brookdale Knives marked some major achievements for my journey as an entrepreneur. It was featured on National Radio, a nationally distributed magazine, collaborated with Mike Pero Real Estate and got into a retail store (this was a first for me). During my last year of high school, I started a company importing fitness accessories. This was done through the New Zealand Young Enterprise Scheme and has been one of my biggest periods of learning to date. My team was able to sell this business to our retailer in May 2023, which marks my first business sale.I am currently gaining as much knowledge through working for start-ups, as well as established companies like my current position at Partridge Jewellers. I am always keen to connect and learn, and very much enjoy talking business/entrepreneurship with those that have gone before.
