Led a team consisting of 10 developers and was responsible for building this completely new team within a busy agency. Responsibilities for the team include all aspect of line management, peer reviewing code and team mentoring. Fostering an excellent open culture of collaboration and empowering members of the team to design and implement great software solutions. Accountable for architecting and implementing secure internet facing systems including PCI and NHS IG compliant systems. Leading developers involved in multiple different projects being run in an agile environment. Able to cope with significant fast paced change and apply a cool head and give sound architectural and solution advice to developers and non developers alike. Innate ability to objectively review past achievements and failures and learn from them. Applying this knowledge to future iterations should be a cornerstone of every developer's behaviour.Extensively involved in helping to develop and nurture learning and development within the company. Including presenting many “Friday Festivals” and lightning talks to help share knowledge at all levels within the company.

Being development lead for the mobile implementation of the companies 10+ years old desktop application provided a number of challenges. The application is targeted at android tablets initially but had to be written as a platform independent web application. The latest technologies were used to bring an ageing application right up to date. The core of the application is built as a number of SPA’s using MVC, Web Api and javascript.Responsible for the redesign of the core application originally written in VB6 webclasses and now found to be no longer fit for purpose with a number of design and architecture problems. This included introducing design patterns to the team and using modern practices and laying out new practices and coding standards that were lacking in the original work.Spearheaded the migration of source control from Visual Sourcesafe to GIT this included the implementation of new practices and required mentoring of other team members. This included exposure to modern developer tooling such as continuous integration and deployment.

Worked as part of a small development department within a call centre environment of over 100 users. The department was responsible for the ongoing development and maintenance of the bespoke CRM systems and consumer facing websites. Projects included consumer facing mobile and desktop developments across all platforms. Making use of the emerging capabilities of HTML5, CSS3 and adding client side functionality using javascript whilst maintaining a consistent experience across all devices and browsers. Extensive experience working with mobile sites and applications came in very useful in bringing projects in on time and budget. This role within a small business required attention to detail and the ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure. The exposure to technologies of all different types enhances problem solving and fault finding skills.

A role which is massively varied in scope and depth. A remote worker, works primarily from home but travels to visit customers on average 3 days out of 5.This role is unique as it is both extremely technical and customer focussed. In daily contact with customers, both end users and business decision makers. The role requires a high level of communication skill both in being able to speak face to face with customers and being able to communicate via other means such as email or over the phone.Due to the nature of the role organisation and time management are skills that are an outright necessity. All work is carried out unsupervised and is planned and coordinated with the customer including all travel arrangements.

As first line technical support the main responsibility was to answer calls from remote stores and attempt to fix the identified issues whilst following a tightly prescribed set of procedures. This included logging the call, correctly diagnosing and fixing the issues identified.
