Founded in 1989, the National Association of People With HIV Australia (NAPWHA.org.au) is Australia’s peak non-government organisation representing community-based groups of people living with HIV. Our vision is of a world where people with HIV live their lives to their full potential, in good health and free from discrimination. As President, elected by our members, I lead a Board of Governance responsible for the strategic direction of NAPWHA and for the oversight of the organisation's vision, mission and performance.

The HIV Taskforce was established in 2023 by Minister for Health Mark Butler to revitalize Australia’s commitment to ending the HIV epidemic and to achieve the virtual elimination of domestic HIV transmission by 2030.Chaired by the Minister and supported by Assistant Minister for Health Ged Kearney, the Taskforce provided strategic advice to the Minister and the Department of Health and Aged Care on the necessary actions and priorities to reach this goal.The Taskforce Report, released on World AIDS Day 2023, outlines a roadmap for achieving the virtual elimination target by 2030 and includes key recommendations to support this vision.
