As an Occupational Therapist and private practice owner I like to help people become more independent with their Activities of Daily Living. This includes starting and running a private practice. Any small business owner will tell you that through providing better and more personalized service to clients and having control over how their business is run they not only love their job but they experience a fulfillment in their life that they never knew they could have. I have a varied background that gives me a unique perspective not only on therapy but also on business and marketing. My time in serving my country in the Army taught me to be laser focused on a task in order to accomplish it along with being physically and mentally prepared for any situation. I have also worked as a contract therapist in at least 6 different facilities ranging from developmental daycares to the public schools. The two pediatric therapy clinics that my wife and I began are where I have learned the most either by trial and error or asking others their opinions. I have learned such great lessons from owning and operating a private practice that I wanted to share these skills with others. My therapy clinics provide Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy. One of my main motivations for sharing all that I have learned at www.startatherapyrpactice.com is what I am seeing as far as the centralization of care in the healthcare world. This is my little way of counteracting this centralization and to keep care personal. It is the therapist that treats clients not the institution. I believe it is the independent practitioner that will provide personal care to those who are disgusted by the impersonal treatment that they receive from the “big box” or government run institutions.
