After nearly two and a half years as a the Assistant Manager of Default Litigation, I was promoted to Manager of the department. This essentially involved absorbing a sub team within Default Litigation and taking on many more high level responsibilities. Since my tenure as Manager, I have created or oversaw the creation and implementation of many new processes to address the changes in work from home policies and the ever changing and increasing regulation in the default servicing industry, including a new remote auditing/document review process and updating of many litigation policies due to new case law affecting mortgage servicing across the US. Along with many new responsibilities, I still handle the most complex correspondence and litigation files, including some of the most aged files in the department and investigations from local, state, and federal regulators. I also act as an escalated contact for the department, so even though I have taken on more managerial type responsibilities, I am not afraid to dig deep into files and resolve any issues to the benefit of the company and its clients.

After a relatively short tenure as a Default Litigation Specialist, I was promoted to a Team Lead (which led to a title change to supervisor). I mainly oversaw the correspondence and complaint process in the department, but I still had a full portfolio of litigation files and attended many contested and uncontested trials. Because of my background in English and teaching, I strived to make our letter writing more efficient and professional. Although the department concentrates on litigation, being able to identify potential litigation issues before they turn into a lawsuit was a top priority for me. I emphasized the team concentrate on researching and resolving potential issues instead of trying to churn out responses as quickly as possible.

After my experiences in default servicing firms in REO and loss mitigation, I accepted a job at Dovenmuehle Mortgage, Inc. in the Default Litigation department, which involved handling a portfolio of contested foreclosure cases. We handled these cases from cradle to grave, which included appearing as a witness in all foreclosure trials. I also completed over 1200 borrower complaint responses, which involved researching all issues brought up in the complaint and resolving any borrower concerns in an attempt to reduce litigation down the road. I also handled CFPB, BBB, and other regulator complaints.

In this role, I mainly acted as a liaison between borrower's counsel/borrower, our clients, and our internal attorneys who handled Illinois mediation cases. I handled the reviewing of all loss mitigation documentation, sharing mediation results with the clients, and overall trying to negotiate the best outcome for all parties involved. I mainly worked with one client, who was extremely particular with the way their cases are handled, and we excelled in mediation area in their eyes. I always strived to make sure my client was as happy as possible while expeditiously moving the cases out of the mediation system.

In my first role in the legal world, I worked at a default servicing firm acting as a gatekeeper for the closings of 150+ REO property sales on a monthly basis. I mainly worked with borrower lenders, investors, and opposing counsel to bring the parties to the closing table with the goal of closing on as many properties as possible per month. I also worked with internal teams to resolve title issues and county specific closing requirements, as these typically held up closings. During my tenure, we met or exceeded the lofty goals set forth by our clients nearly every month.
