As an architect at HilleryPriest Architecture, I contributed significantly to the team, overseeing outsourced contract staff and managing their deliverables. My role spanned from conceptual design to construction detailing and contract administration, honing skills in people and project management, file management, and risk assessment. Key responsibilities included client meetings, 3D concept design modeling using ArchiCAD, consultant engagement, resource consent documentation, team leadership, developed design, contract documentation, building consent applications, tender documentation, workflow optimization, contract administration, progress claims, and construction supervision. My project portfolio includes high-value residences and renovations, showcasing expertise in luxury home development.

In this role, I established and led a new in-house design center, managing staff and workloads, and collaborated with the CEO on developing new product ranges. My responsibilities extended to outsourcing design and production services within the manufacturing sector, product testing, and creating design solutions for future products. I assisted in the development of internal costing software systems and engaged with both national and international dealers, providing guidance on new products, systems, and specifications. Additionally, I conducted business development, from national roadshows, to an extensive BD trip to Dubai, presented to architects across New Zealand, liaised on project details, conducted sun analysis, and created CGI images.

Transitioning from on-site construction to a role focused on technical document production for consenting processes was a significant shift. I worked closely with the company director, aiding in all aspects of project delivery. My responsibilities included creating resource and building consent documents for several developments, including a 15-unit development, an 8-unit development, and a 12-lot subdivision. This role allowed me to build on my technical skills and contribute to the successful delivery of complex projects.
