Scott Lahman is an entrepreneur and executive who has consistently been at the forefront of major trends in the video game and mobile industries. With an innate ability to anticipate market shifts and a passion for challenging the status quo, Scott has made a lasting impact on the digital landscape.As a founder of JAMDAT Mobile in 2000, alongside Zack Norman and Austin Murray, Scott helped create the foundation for the modern mobile gaming industry. JAMDAT was a pioneer in developing mobile games before smartphones even existed, and its influence is still felt today in platform revenue splits, technology and deployment approaches, gameplay paradigms, and platform SDKs. The team at JAMDAT even developed the first-ever games for Apple's iPod Click Wheel, foreshadowing the iPhone and App Store revolution. JAMDAT's success led to a 2004 IPO and a $680 million acquisition by Electronic Arts in 2006.In 2008, Scott once again joined forces with Zack Norman and Austin Murray to found text+, a free-to-play WiFi first carrier. With a focus on serving young users, text+ and its successor app, Nextplus, offer a free phone number, free SMS, low-cost calling, and innovative features. As CEO, Scott has grown the text+ platform to over 150 million installs worldwide. The text+ team has also lent its expertise to building apps for a select group of customers including TracFone, Kymeta and Sugar Mobile. Before JAMDAT, Scott began his career at Activision in 1994, becoming Vice President of Studios in 1997 and playing a key role in the company's growth and M&A activities. Prior to that, he worked in the film and television industry, including as a development executive at Robert De Niro's Tribeca Productions and as part of the founding team of Tribeca Interactive.Scott's passion for gaming and online communication began in his childhood, as an early adopter of platforms like Pong, Atari 2600, and TRS-80, as well as services like Compuserve and Prodigy. He even ran a BBS from his bedroom called "Gamenet," powered by a 300 baud modem and Franklin Ace 1000.Committed to giving back, Scott is active in the Los Angeles tech community, having served on Mayor Eric Garcetti's Council on Technology & Innovation and the executive council of inLA. He is an angel investor and advisor to numerous companies, and serves on the board of non-profit Didi Hirsch, which provides free mental health, substance use disorder, and suicide prevention services. Additionally, Scott founded Just Say Noah, to raise awareness about and prevent opioid and Fentanyl overdoses.
