I study the physics of living matter to create products that solve important problems in health, sports, and automation. It sounds like engineering, but engineering approximations based on Newtonian mechanics don't solve biological problems. To find solutions to joint and muscle pain, to robots that don't fall down, and to understand physical properties of muscles and tendons at a deeper level than current medical science, I had to get beyond simple models and approximations and uncover the fundamental mechanics governing locomotion. My journey involved replacing the models and approximations from 400 years ago with the modern mathematical tools of Lagrange, Euler, and Noether. I was rewarded with a simple theory connecting the rotations of our joints to the sensory feedback used to control the body's movements. Since these break down into things we can measure, such as forces, distances, energy, and time intervals, I can engineer products that affect our bodies in predictable ways. The potential applications are endless.

The business could scale in volume and geography without capital investment. Ultimately, the financial crisis of 2008 and subsequent recession halted the launch preparations after the products and systems were tested and ready for production.
