A client's trust is precious. When people have the confidence to let you act on their behalf and counsel them in difficult situations, it’s the highest professional compliment.I carry that responsibility with me as the Ohio State Bar Association's Director of Policy and Legislative Counsel. It's an honor to speak for Ohio's lawyers and advocate for ways to improve the legal profession in our state—both for those practicing the law and the people affected by it.Lawyers are uniquely close to the everyday application of laws, so we're well-positioned to understand when changes need to be made. I strive to bring together lawmakers and practitioners to benefit everyone in Ohio.Research is vital. I get to know our members and stay on top of the changing legal landscape in Ohio. But it takes more than just sharing raw information. Critical thinking and sound judgment are also imperative for:• interpreting complex issues and projecting the consequences of changes• developing an instinctive understanding of different audiences• using care and deliberation when presenting your caseI want to build on the OSBA's great reputation at the Statehouse for well-considered policy changes. I’ve been in private practice, in government and now at the association. It energizes me to draw on my combined experience for the good of the profession at large.Ohio boasts more than just a strong legal community. We also have a thriving music scene. Enjoying a live music experience channels the artist’s passion and immediacy. In an age of digital downloads, it’s still the purest way of hearing what they want to say in the way they want to say it.
