General Manager
King Facade New Zealand Ltd
In 2009 I was approached to manage a startup JV Facade Business owned by Richina and by King Facade China, One of the more significant Facade Engineering companies in China. This was a new supply chain model for New Zealand's Facade Industry and given the enormous potential of the model, the opportunity was too exciting to refuse. In this role I was firstly responsible for creating a company identity, including Brand Development and Positioning of the new entity in the NZ marketplace. This part of the role naturally extended to New Business Development, where we set ourselves ambitious growth targets.I was responsible for developing accounting and costing protocols, including alignment of JV Partners financial expectations and commitments, as well as an HR management function as the company grew from 2 to in excess of 50 FTE staff by 2013.I had the lead responsibility for evaluating and negotiating supplier contracts in China and in NZ and together with our engineers ensuring the governing compliance requirements and QA protocols were in place and effectively managed. This involved a great deal of cross cultural understanding and empathy, - perhaps the greatest learning experience from the role. Finally I oversaw the design, delivery and installation of the Facade Contracts, which included the establishment of ITP procedures and prototype performance testing with partner companies in both Hong Kong and in China. To accommodate the workload, we established an MPI Accredited logistics facility and the staff / protocols to effectively manage stock and the requisite QA procedures as the materials were delivered to sites for installation. In the three years to the end of 2013 we grew the company from zero to $20 M (NZ) of completed contract work with fully functioning company policies and procedures, supply chain partners on board and a full order book for 2014.
