In addition to traditional defined roles, I'm frequently called upon to help lead resolution and solve critical issues for other product teams or productions that are in jeopardy and am versatile in jumping between high-priority projects and always ensuring the show happens successfully and critical deadlines are met.Product Management:• Responsible for product management for control and networking distribution system development for VER's worldwide rental fleet.• Utilized combination of in-house developed hardware and software in conjunction with off-the-shelf products to reduce time to market and development costs.• Delivered products from initial concept through production• Involved extensive use of single-mode fiber, VLAN, Layer 3 networking technologies.• Control products included the Pathfinder which allowed for control for a wide variety of 3rd party video products using DMX512/sACN/ArtNet to interface to the 3rd party proprietary protocols.• Functioned as primary software engineer for Pathfinder in addition to Product Manager.Project Management:• Led large multi-screen LED permanent install media feature project with a budget responsibility in excess of $30M..• Successfully led project through completion of construction drawing phase comprising in excess of 500 sheets with direct responsibility for all work completed internally and by a variety of contractors.• Project involves an intricate design with substantial steel structures, complex data and electrical systems, fountains, and new LED screen product development.• Involved extensive collaboration with media feature designers, structural/electrical/mechanical/fountain engineers, architects, and owner representatives.

High End Systems was bought by Barco in 2008 mainly due to the success of the Digital Lighting product family, a market Barco strongly desired to enter.My role remained largely the same as with High End Systems previously, although with an increased focus on product development activities. This included software development on products such as the intellaspot XT-1 and Cyberlight 2.0 as well as development of a new automated lighting system architecture.Product and Project Management:• Performed detailed market and competitive product analysis and defined detailed product specifications.• Created/presented business case review to management for new product development.• Led strategic planning with other Barco product teams to increase product compatibility and integration between divisions.• Developed plan to leverage and extend emerging industry communication protocols as foundation for future product integration between divisions. • Performed extensive analysis of Wireless DMX systems, including relevant IP, and successfully negotiated OEM contract with vendor.R&D IT Administrator: • Independently designed and rolled out a separate domain and network infrastructure for the entire R&D Dept (over 50 Servers/Workstations) to isolate HES R&D from the Barco corporate network allowing increased productivity and functionality for the software development teams.

Digital Lighting:• Responsible for all Product Management functions including: specifying product features, managing development/testing teams, marketing/sales support, manufacturing support.• Product family represented $12.5M in revenue at its peak, close to 30% of total company revenue.• Worked with key customers in complex product applications.• Specified/qualified all hardware components.• Developed/managed lasting relationships with key vendors.• Project Manager for Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremonies using 120 servers feeding 147 large format projectors creating all video imagery in production. Involved extensive pre-sales efforts working with our Chinese distributor and the creative team to design/specify this landmark system viewed by over 1 billion people.Intellectual Property Expert:• Served as intellectual property technical expert in defending against a patent infringement case. • Provided extensive prior-art evidence against infringement claims.• Active participant throughout mediation meetings with executive management.• Resulted in new license agreement with a net savings of over $1M in royalties over a previous license agreement.Software Engineer:• Designed and implemented RDM communications firmware used in numerous products.Software Test Manager:• Responsible for building a software testing team and lab from the ground up to help stabilize a product in crisis.• Worked with many key customers to support and find solutions for their issues while working with development team for permanent fixes.• Established formal software release process.• Developed highly successful beta testing program with volunteer users. Resulted in better quality software releases and converted many users into passionate advocates of the product.• Developed highly successful product support forum. Resulted in successful user-to-user support reducing support costs and improving response time to users finding solutions.

Was the Production Electrician for the Summers of '90-'92. I was then retained as a Consultant along with the Creative and Management team through 2000 to come in an ensure a successful opening of the show each year and maintain all show related systems.In 2007, after numerous management and creative team changes I was sought out to return as a consultant to restore and upgrade many of the Lighting/Automation/IT systems as part of a team to help rebuild the show to it's previous level of success.• Executed lighting plot and ensured show would open on schedule. • Responsible for execution and operation of all production lighting and facility power systems. • Maintained all audio, communications, and special-effects systems. • IT Systems Administrator• Personally recovered lighting and special effects systems after major lightning strike destroyed all control systems, without losing a single performance.

Experience working at ETC led to this unique opportunity at WDI making use of my extensive knowledge of ETC systems.• Performed initial design of a fully load monitored parkwide lighting control system for Tokyo DisneySea theme park. • Designed local control systems for each facility and integrated into a central parkwide control system. • Wrote detailed system and product specifications used in bidding process.• Initial design included: over 7200 dimmers, 83 dimming racks, 35 separate local control systems.

• Lighting Systems Consultant for Amarillo Civic Center Electrical Renovation. • Designed and specified the purchase and installation of all lighting equipment to be used on project. • Total project budget for lighting renovation: $350,000.• Installed Summer 1995, within budget.• System is still currently in use (2011) as designed, with minimal updates required. It has far exceeded the originial design criteria.

Worked Summers '93-'95 while in College. I was the first Summer hire for ETC. My experience in working as a Summer Intern in '93 and '94, formed the basis for adding additional internships in '95 and lead to a very large and successful internship program ETC continues to operate.Job duties:• Performed installation, testing, and user-training of lighting control systems traveling independently across the country. • Provided technical phone and field support for end-users in the use and repair of lighting control systems.
