With 24 years of experience in the Entertainment lighting industry, Scott has established himself as a passionate results-oriented leader in developing new technology and delivering solid products. His background spans every level in the industry from end-user, consultant/specifier, field service; to software engineering, product design and more recently product management. With a strong customer focus, Scott understands what it takes to ensure that the show always goes on.Scott takes a strong systems-view to product development. This started early in his career as a lighting systems designer for Walt Disney Imagineering in designing and specifying one of the first fully networked theme park-wide lighting systems. This systems-level view led Scott to creating a new communications protocol built on top of DMX512 allowing for discovery and remote configuration and monitoring of lighting products. This new protocol ultimately became a published ANSI standard known as RDM.Scott's impact on the industry extends far beyond his individual companies through his work as a volunteer in the ESTA Control Protocols Working Group. He has served as Chair and Editor on multiple ANSI standards task groups including: RDM and RDMnet; a new protocol extending RDM messaging over Ethernet. He is also a member of the DMX512 and sACN task groups. His work goes beyond just writing standards by bringing manufacturers together to test and improve their implementations of these protocols through his organization of the semi-annual ESTA Control Protocols Plugfests.Scott is a frequent speaker at industry trade shows and recognized with multiple service and leadership awards from ESTA, IEEE, and the UT College of Engineering.Specialties: • Product Development & Management• Software Dev• Communication Protocols: DMX512, RDM, sACN, Art-Net, RS485 • Ethernet Networking• Entertainment/Architectural Lighting Control & Dimming Systems• Media Servers/Video Systems
