People-oriented executive with a track record of building successful business relationships. I love pursuing activities that bring out the best in people, in technology and in companies. The first half of my career was focused on the pursuit of technical excellence (in engineering and management). In this season, I'm focused on finding and drawing out the excellence in others, in the people that are in my spheres of influence. It's easy to point out the dirt in any field, but it takes some effort to find the gold that may be buried there. As a husband, parent and entrepreneur, I've discovered that the more I think I've learned, the less I actually know. I'll explain: there are (a) the things we know, (b) the things we know that we don't know and c) the things we don't know that we don't know. If we only move knowledge from bucket (b) to bucket (a), we're leaving possibility and opportunity on the table, because bucket (c) dwarfs (a) and (b). The extraordinary opportunities in business and life, come from partnering with fear and taking a swim in the unknown. Taking an occasional calculated leap of faith into a new market, a new product, a new process, a new material etc...) that's where the gold is. The best example I can think of is the way genetic algorithms for optimization work. It's standard practice to throw a random mutation into the solution set to disrupt the system. The result is that the GA's converge faster to the solution and with far fewer errors. This seems counter intuitive.Strengths include:• Public Speaking • Building Client Relationships• Developing Winning Solutions • Writing and Editing• Coaching Others to Succeed • Building Profitable Relationships • Honesty and Integrity • Providing Detailed Analysis• Strategic Forecasting • Systems Analysis• Corporate Development • Hybrid Electric Vehicles• Traction Drive CVT's • Powertrain Development • Technology Evaluation
