About Scott Mcclellan

Scott Mcclellan is a Sr Director - Product at NVIDIA at NVIDIA. He possess expertise in cloud computing, storage, operating systems, high availability, linux and 28 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "I've worked with Scott for several years at Red Hat in our Emerging Technologies division. Working for Scott is one of the most fabulous growth opportunities that any ambitious engineer could ever ask for. He's able to be highly strategic without being a helicopter, and is able to influence the direction of a project without explicitly controlling it. Most of all, he puts people in a position to succeed at all times, and always makes sure they are happy, having fun, and kicking butt. During my time with Scott I've seen him nurture a team of open source technologists from inception, and I was one of them. He's got an amazing talent for designing highly efficient engineering pipelines by grouping the right people together, and is always available to oversee and successfully negotiate the most critical and deep technical decisions being made on a project. His pragmatism in this arena is very unique. In addition to being pragmatic, Scott deeply understands the process of open source and has the patience to watch communities evolve and to forsee the rise and fall of new products before the broader community does. Finally, in addition to being a really great open source strategist (he "gets" it) - Scott gains the respect of highly talented engineers almost instantly, with his depth of knowledge around distributed systems, operating systems, compilers, and in general, computing. Like most gifted CTO's and CEO's: I think its fair to say Scott has a tremendous memory and an ability to context switch at a very rapid pace. Thats one of the most awesome things about working with him. His IQ and tenacity are infectious.", "Scott is a rare leader in in the industry who combines technical depth with business savvy with a strong undercurrent of integrity and honesty in all of his dealings. I was privileged to see Scott and Christine drive the absolutely strategic public cloud initiative from inception at HP including business planning, internal selling, and execution, through turmoil and institutional resistance, including multiple CEO sponsors. As a positive visionary and risk taker, and he inspired many of the best and brightest inside of HP to join his team. Although fiercely competitive and driven, Scott's sense of decency and fairness contributed to strong loyalty and high performance from his group.", and "Scott is a CTO, and leader like few others. He is extremely sharp, innovative, technically astute in a broad spectrum of technologies, has great business acumen, entrepreunial, and real fun to work with. He is one of the key reasons I joined HP. Scott was intrumental in getting the public cloud efforts rationilized, funded, and developed ay HP. Scott is able to hire, motivate, and attract top talent very quickly. Furthermore, Scott is very articulate and can present extremely well to any audience from exectuives, to customers, to industry events. In short, Scott is a tremendous asset to any organization and I would welcome the opportunity to work with Scott anytime."
