My career to date has predominantly been in the fund management industry. I was a fund manager specialising in UK equities from 1990 to 2009. During that period I worked for three companies - Britannia Fund Management (now Ignis) in Glasgow, Morley Fund Management (now Aviva ) in London and more recently Martin Currie in Edinburgh where I left the business in September 2009.Having enjoyed a break from the fund management industry after twenty years work my wife and I opened a catering business called Piecebox in Edinburgh in July 2010 . This was developed into a popular cafe and corporate catering business before we sold it in January 2017.In August 2014 I returned to the fund management industry, joining the investment team at Saracen Fund Management based in Edinburgh. In April 2015 we launched the Saracen UK Income Fund where I was the manager of the fund and a significant personal shareholder in it. In June 2017 I became the manager of the Saracen UK Alpha Fund. Having established a very strong track record in both funds I was offered the opporunity to join the award-winning investment team at Amati Global Investors and I took up my role there in April 2021.
