Apotex Pharmachem is a manufacturer of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients for Apotex Inc.I was recruited to work on projects stalled by reduction in staff such as: Active Directory cleanup, finishing implementation of O365 by migrating user files to MS OneDrive. Virtual Machine (VM) builds for a new production server farm upgrade. Assisted with day-to-day user, Active Directory, O365 and system issues.

Apotex is a privately owned leading multi-national manufacturer of generic pharmaceuticals. I joined as Supervisor the IS Operations team of wholly-owned subsidiary TorPharm Inc., created by Apotex to manufacture and sell generic pharmaceuticals to the US market. When TorPharm was wound down and re-integrated with Apotex I accepted a lateral move into a Senior System Administrator position.We managed the global infrastructure and as such were responsible for the firm's overall IT infrastructure, systems engineering and 24/7 operations of company global Data Centers running SAP and other critical applications, in a largely virtualized environment, in line with stated organizational goals, guidelines, and objectives (Microsoft, Cisco,HP, IBM, EMC, VMware, BMC, Actifio) in EMEA, APAC and North America hubs.We won a company prestigious Global Excellence Award for IT innovation and reduction of operating cost by executing on a DC transformation (refresh, virtualization, reduction of physical footprint and closure of data centers).Deployed, monitored, maintained, developed and supported all hardware and software infrastructure solutions based on business needs.

Chapters Online was Canada’s premier e-commerce company, established by the Chapters chain of bookstores and subsequently purchased by Indigo Books and Music. I moved into Manager, Production Operations, IT, role with Chapters Online after managing both the Operations and Internal Support teams for several months.I managed the production and staging environments for one of Canada’s premier e-commerce companies, operating 7x24 with a staff of four to six technicians servicing approximately 120 servers running a Microsoft Server environment and focused primarily on the chapters.indigo.ca website and kiosk environments. I drove the integration of 80+ servers in the internal, development and retail environments with the on-line production and staging systems to bring them up to the same level of stability, performance and security

EveryWare was the developer of a successful cross-platform GUI web-to-database interfaceproduct called Tango.I assumed the role of IS Manager shortly after the sale of InContext Systems to EveryWareDevelopment.Managed all aspects of IS for ~100 staff running ~250 networked computers runningpredominantly Microsoft environments with some Unix/Linux and Mac machines, with one fulltimeIS technician and two co-ops. Responsibilities included prioritizing and responding todepartmental and end-user concerns/issues with regards to functionality and availability ofservices such as internet access, network access, servers, individual computers and applicationsand hybrid digital/analog phone system.

InContext Systems was the creator of a very successful document processor (also calledInContext) using Standard Generalized Markup Language, putting them on the ground floor ofthe move to the World Wide Web and the creation of an award-winning HTML editor(InContext Spider) and analysis tool (InContext Web Analyzer).
