Leading a team of 30+ and replacing 100+ servers and databases, modernising 20+ paper and legacy products, and creating a single, simple, cost effective and modern capability based on Pega cloud, Salesforce, and AWS. The strategy is driven by security, customer self-serve, cost reduction, and product digitisation.This role converted my previous contract into a permanent position.This conversion extended my responsibilities to include other transformation programs including the replacement of Transport’s core customer feedback systems using Salesforce (when I assumed technical strategy, architectural and DevOps responsibility for 3 platforms). This transformation used the principles established for earlier programs with a focus on data simplification and security, customer experience, cloud integration.As the architecture and DevOps leader I integrate core systems (Salesforce CRM, Pega CRM, AWS cloud) with corporate security, corporate data analytics, and related processes to simplify and remove unnecessary boundaries and duplication.My team uses its culture to lead innovative solutions. One example, when a core application (Apache Log4j) triggered millions of hacker exploits globally we avoided the traditional (and endless cycle) of patching. Instead we quickly analysed alternatives, removed dependencies, negated further threats, and remained ahead of our organisational peers. Our approach was later adopted by other teams.

Headhunted, leading the design and scope of the “Concessions” digitisation strategy (disabled and Centrelink customers, Students, Seniors, Apprentices, Trainees, and others) supporting over 2.3M individuals using high cost, over engineered, obsolete, and under resourced products with significant innovation constraints and poor data security. I provide strategic, architectural and design leadership to evolve from a legacy government environment onto modern cloud-based products. My DevOps team integrates with the Business Architecture team to shift traditional IT practices and introduce modern product planning and development techniques and tools.The new products offer customer self-serve for the first time (removing high cost, manual, paper-based processes), massively simplify data complexity, establish secure data controls, deliver a transformational customer experience, and for a single product it reduces potential misuse and cost by $4-8M.

I developed the operational capability (tools, processes, systems) to support innovative new office automation and lighting control products as they were brought to market. During that period, I established customer support and delivery capabilities using Hubspot CRM, cloud databases, and cloud integration tools. At the same time, we established offshore manufacturing and supply chain processes and controls.The maturing capability helped increase ongoing capital raising activities.

I led team transformations and multiple partners to design and deliver new capability based on Salesforce CRM and cloud project and integration systems, in the process adapting the delivery and assurance teams to more than double the organisation's capability and revenue in 2017. During this period CommsChoice was awarded major managed service contracts including building and running Australia’s largest private SDWAN network, Australia wide service chaining transitions integrating data and voice network transformations, mobile services, and mobile security evolutions.During my period as COO CommsChoice went from a start-up to acquiring 5 other organisations and listing on the ASX in December 2017.The CommsChoice systems and processes I established were adopted by the new organisation. After listing, as the EGM my focus shifted to Salesforce and ERP consolidation and integration; service and supplier consolidation; group wide service monitoring and delivery; integrating organisational tools across the group and deploying a standard computing environment; consolidation and integration of multiple rating and billing systems.I developed our R&D strategy and submissions to AusIndustry.

My period at NBN started with leading the NSW State Operations and then NSW and Qld before taking on the national role. In the national role I adapted the team to trial and implement technology or process changes that met exponentially increasing demands as the NBN network matured; as scalability and complexity continued to challenge the organisation; and as government strategy changed.During this period, I developed the initial strategy to scale field operations and then worked with several consulting organisations to address nbn’s need to meet rapidly increasing demands. This included defining the initial field workforce strategies to scale operations from 100s of connections a day to 1000s while maintaining quality and progressively implementing service delivery capabilities.

This was a long-term contract role delivering new Smartgrid technology and programs, management of the telecommunications network and network facing IT services and solutions. I also developed the organisations ICT strategy and submission for the next round of government funding.

In earlier roles I was the VP of R&D and Operations and led the presales and consulting team.As the VP of R&D I led product strategy, product management and development as well as the customer implementation and service delivery teams before shifting focus to consultancy services. I assumed responsibility for the product when we were experiencing significant contractual, design and delivery issues, which were resolved within 12 months using innovative designs and restructured teams. The modernised product led to further international contracts. I was a key driver in the establishment of a utility business division.

In earlier years I trained as a member of the Australian military with overseas postings to the US Navy. I was a network technology expert with Telstra where I engineered, delivered and supported leading international services, and I started my IT journey developing tactical and commercial software.The combined telecom, engineering and IT roles continued during my period at AAPT where I established Network IT - delivering regulatory and commercial services with later years focusing on wholesale and consumer products in highly competitive markets.
