As the Chief Investment Officer of Mercy Corps, I lead the global strategy for impact investing, innovative finance, web3 initiatives, and strategic partnerships with emerging technology ventures. I am also the Co-founder and Managing Director of Mercy Corps Ventures, an impact venture capital fund that has invested in over 60 seed and early-stage startups developing climate resilience, inclusive fintech, agtech and web3 solutions in frontier markets. In addition to capital, we provide strategic support, partnership opportunities that have helped ventures scale to positively impact over 30 million people across more than 90 countries, including 35 of the most climate-vulnerable and least developed countries. I oversee the Venture Lab, a leading innovation lab for emerging market use cases of cutting-edge technologies across 3 verticals:• The Climate Venture Lab co-designs and deploys first-of-a-kind technologies to build climate resilience across the Global South• The Humanitarian Venture Lab and our Anticipatory Action Accelerator pilot tests AI, data analytics, and blockchain technologies to more effectively deliver humanitarian aid to those living through crises • The Crypto Venture Lab and our Crypto for Good Fund (cryptoforgood.eth) co-designs and funds impactful real world use cases for crypto to drive global financial inclusion and climate resilience across emerging markets. I am an early investor in Wasoko, Pula, Powered by People, Goldfinch, Ejara, and other innovative companies that drive financial and climate inclusion. I also advise and invest in emerging crypto protocols that have the potential to transform the global economy. I graduated magna cum laude from Duke University and am based in the Pacific Northwest.
