Scott Parker is a CEO, Traverse Aero at Traverse Aero Corporation. He possess expertise in engineering management, industrial engineering, systems engineering, c, aerodynamics and 20 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "Scott is an exemplary engineer, and incredibly skilled at designing for and manufacturing composites. I had the pleasure of working with him for 1.5 years at Zipline where we worked together on a couple of cross discipline, tightly integrated electromechanical projects. During that time I witnessed Scott fly back and forth to China, setting up our manufacturing effort there, all while leading the design, manufacturing, and testing of one of the vehicles most important components - the wing. He perpetually remains cool under pressure, and is a delight to work with." and "Scott`s work as the teamleader of the wing group were valuable assets for the project of a new kind of UAV kite at Makani Power. Scott’s broad knowledge in fields from technical background, manufacturing technology and especially in the field of leadership to form the group to an effective team, a multi culture team with individual scientists and engineers with different background. He is strongly self-motivated and highly knowledgeable. I highly recommend his team player role and value him both professionally and as a personal friend."

Team Lead: Uav Wing BuildMakani Power May 2008 - Jul 2012Alameda, California, UsMakani Power is a Google funded wind power startup. As part of the management team I led a team of engineers and fabricators responsible for the design and fabrication of an ultra-lightweight 18 foot carbon fiber flying wing. Achievements of my team include mold manufacture and fairing, composites material testing, calculation of allowables, structural design and analysis, wing fabrication, and integration with avionics. My technical work included FEA of composite components (stress, buckling, etc), mechanical design of motor mounts and landing skids, composite fabrication (skins, spars, shear walls, wet angles, blind bonding, test articles, landing skids), and curing oven design and build. I was also responsible for systems integration and worked with other team leads to design the system architecture, onboard communication, redundancy solutions and the test plan. -
Test/Mechanical EngineerMakani Power May 2007 - Jun 2008Alameda, California, UsIn this role I was responsible for the testing of large kite-based power generation systems. Test locations included the Alameda Naval runway and very remote parts of Maui and Lanai. As the “pilot” I commanded full control during testing and was responsible for the safety of other test personnel. During flights I monitored local air traffic and followed FAA rules governing altitude and visibility. I established and documented safety protocols, test plans, test procedures and startup/shutdown procedures. Often working with a skeleton crew in remote locations I also performed data collection and analysis, debugged software and repaired electrical and mechanical components. One of the major milestones was the development of a completely autonomous kite and winch system that generated electrical power and operated continuously for 36 hours in extreme weather conditions. -
Project EngineerTenix Investments Pty Ltd – Commercialization Dec 2005 - Apr 2007North Ryde, Nsw, AuAs project engineer I assisted the Tenix Investments team in all aspects of product commercialization including technical due diligence, development of financial models, writing business plans, preparing government grant applications and the development and structuring of finance. Investment opportunities typically spawned from research organizations such as CSIRO and Government DOE labs. I performed technical due diligence of a multispectral infrared camera, designed to detect ash and SO2, by conducting field tests at three active volcanoes (Mt St Helens, Mt Kilauea and Montserrat). I also evaluated a real-time bioagent detection system and assisted with the first prototype installation at a water substation in Arizona. -
Mechatronic EngineerTenix Investments Pty Ltd – Commercialization Jan 2004 - Dec 2005North Ryde, Nsw, AuMy work performed in this position was based around a 2-axis stabilized video camera payload for the Aerosonde unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). I worked closely with Aerosonde and the ultimate Defense customer to define the specification and performance envelope. I completed the mechanical design of the gimbal and integrated the control system components required for active stabilization. I was also tasked to develop and integrate the associated ground station software. This included a graphical user interface for displaying live video with synchronized geo-location data, remote steering via joystick, machine-in-the-loop object following and miscellaneous camera features. This hardware and software package became a product and numerous were sold for use in UAVs and autonomous vehicle research including the DARPA grand challenge.
