W. Scott Railton limits his practice to United States immigration and naturalization law, with an emphasis on advising businesses and Human Resources Departments. As an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, he has served on several state and national committees for the organization and is a Past Chair of the Washington State Chapter. He has taught U.S. Immigration Law and Policy at Western Washington University and regularly speaks and writes to a wide variety of audiences concerning business immigration, immigration enforcement, criminality and waivers, and other constitutional matters related to U.S. immigration and border law. Mr. Railton's counsel is relied upon by renowned professionals, including physician specialists, research scientists, and business executives. Mr. Railton represents medical facilities and universities, routinely advising on complex immigrant and nonimmigrant options for key personnel. Mr. Railton is a member of the International Medical Graduate Taskforce and regularly lobbies Congress and related agencies for the improvement of U.S. immigration laws. Mr. Railton reserves a portion of his practice for the litigation of admissibility and removal issues, humanitarian matters, and immigration advocacy. Mr. Railton has been annually selected as a "Super Lawyer" honoree in the State of Washington by Thomson Reuters since 2020. Thomson Reuters says that selection is limited to 5% of the Washington State Bar Association. He holds a 10.0 rating with the Avvo, a lawyer reference company. Mr. Railton was admitted to practice law in the State of Washington in 1998. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington and the United States Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Railton is a graduate of the University of Washington School of Law, where he served on the Executive Editorial Board of the Pacific Rim Law & Policy Journal. He also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Western Washington University, graduating with highest honors, and is proud to have served many years on the Executive Committee of WWU's Alumni Board of Directors.
