Profile bio

About Scott Ramon

I am extremely committed to the educational satisfaction, creative evolution and academic success of my students. Regardless of the level a student’s technical and conceptual capabilities are positioned, I tailor my instruction to their individual needs. I believe in personal research paired with daily practice and experimentation. The most wonderful aspect about teaching art is when you witness a student stumble upon their own story and begin to tell it. When a student artist begins to establish their own personal vision and voice, EVERYTHING becomes a possibility for them! During my past twenty two years in visual arts education I have concentrated on the development and maintenance of professional relationships with high schools, community colleges, after school programs and other art education-based venues across North America. I am confident in my ability to locate students who strongly match up with the pedagogical structure of the institution I represent. I am dedicated to quality output with obsessive attention to detail and require the same from my colleagues. As a supervisor, I maintain an environment of open dialogue and know that any potential internal or external situation can be diffused through honest negotiation and proactive teamwork. My work and personal practice has always served a ritual function in my life and through it, I feel as though I am telling my own story and building a new mythology. A story that archaeologically uncovers buried systems/codexes, subconscious cartographies, pantheons of my own Gods and demons and heroes, while simultaneously reflecting on the frustrations of mundane existence and my impatience and angst of being unable to construct and maintain a "perfect" kabalistic environment to exist within. I seek a balance between my position(s) as an educator, an administrator in higher education, and my professional practice as a visual artist.

Listed skills include Art, Visual Arts, Contemporary Art, Art History, and 46 others.
