I have worked as a unit provider for Texas' incarcerated population since 1996 and have been in a leadership role since 2003. Along with the state Director, we are responsible for the 83 TDCJ and 5 TJJD facilities in the Eastern Sector of Texas, providing dental care to 117,000 inmates, and employing 75 dentists and 175 auxiliary staff. I co-founded Integrated Intrepid Investments (III), which was to establish large-scale practices which offer all specialties to rural communities in Central and South Texas. Later that year, we created the Clinical Continuum Coalition, which focused our resources to assist new graduates with acclimation and mentorship towards excellence and integrity in the field of dentistry. Together, our goal was to provide practitioners with support to initiate, market, supply, staff, train, and implement care parameters at fully-operational multi-specialty clinics. Specialties: All aspects of supervisory responsibility, committee member for UTMB-CMC Dental Services, and security liaison at all Regional facilities. Policy generation/implementation, human resource management, specialty clinic coordination, and interdepartmental efficiency are primary tasks. Clinical specialty is oral surgery and trauma.Skill set:I function as Project Manager for the assessment, development, coordination, implementation, and transition-to-operational status for multiple clinical facilities, both in the private and institutional setting, while ensuring that responsibility matrices for all projects were in place. I developed goals, objectives, and budgets, with both long and short term operational needs in mind.My network of vendor contacts allows me to remain on the leading edge of technology to support development and operational excellence. I am a Key Opinion Leader for a surgical device company.I continue to provide direction, expertise, and leadership for all staff, while providing for their on-going training and development through clearly defined duties, responsibilities, and processes. I am engaged with HR to strengthen our performance improvement initiatives and I routinely lecture to supervisors on the nuances of effective leadership. Lastly, my relationship and collaboration with providers and leaders on subjects including telemedicine, demographics, operational efficiency, care trends, and patient/staff engagement has produced consistent and outstanding results. I have a firm grasp on the process of creating an operational clinic from draft stage to full functionality.
