After 5 years of building Bird from the ground up, I have decided to look for new opportunities. To assist Bird with this transition I will be staying on for another year as a part time advisor to ensure they are supported.

As Chief Vehicle Officer, the CTO and CPO reported into me. If Bird were only a hardware company my role was really closer to something like a COO. However in Bird, the COO was primarily in charge of in-field operations.Oversaw hardware, firmware, software, and field engineering, as well as manufacturing, supply chain & logistics, vendor management, vehicle integration, vehicle operations, security, IT, global facilities and compliance & regulatory. As part of the very initial Bird team, I joined in 2017 to develop the initial technology. From there I took an active role scaling the company to over 1700 employees, with over 600 reporting to me at one point across 3 continents.

During my time at 0x7a69 I consulted for companies big and small. From staff augmentation as IC's to staff augmentation as Manager's we worked to manage teams up to 100 people on a variety of projects. From deploying Warner Bros' web applications into AWS for the first time, to building a wide variety of payment processing systems for a multitude of clients, there were many great challenges. Some clientele did over $1M in revenue per day at times.

Activity Club was a social fitness app, arguably ahead of its time. We were the first application that allowed friends to compete in fitness challenges, no matter what kind of device they had. From an apple watch (including app) to the Garmin and Polar ecosystems and more. Was available on iOS and Android.

Chopwood was a boutique consulting firm. We load balanced our work between incubating internal projects, and consulting for external folks. Our biggest project was rewriting the backend systems for Grindr once their popularity skyrocketed. We successfully brought their hosting bill down from $1M per month to $86k per month over the course of 3-4 months. I was the lead engineer and architect on the project.

Anybeat was a social network designed with more sharing and privacy controls. 5 of us left MySpace together and I worked with the CEO to raise 1M in VC funding. My role was lead engineer as well as technical lead and technical manager for the project. We launched 2 weeks after Google Plus launched, and our product was extremely similar. Unfortunately neither social network passed the test of time, but it was a great experience.

At MySpace I was hired onto a team that was developing new technology as part of a multi-pronged approach to save MySpace (before specific media purchased it). After working there for a month, my role morphed into not only a senior software engineer, but in addition the liason between legal, music licensing, and software. I was heavily embedded in the iLike team (which was the largest facebook app in existence at the time).
