Fosters and builds collaborative relationships and partnerships with legislators, legislative staff, policymakers, and administrative and regulatory agencies or commissions on the federal and state levels of government. Directs and manages the association’s lobbying efforts at the federal and state levels on behalf of the member systems, the G&T’s, and other associated organizations as they pertain to the creation, interpretation, and enforcement of laws, regulations, and government policies. Provides department leadership and supervisory responsibilities for a staff of three employees by developing and implementing policies, procedures and annual strategic goals; directing and benchmarking the work of staff; conducting annual performance reviews; and providing coaching, training, and professional development to staff. Provides executive leadership subject matter expertise on governmental relations issues, legislative & executive branch processes, political issues, and communications matters. Evaluates, engages, and represents the association as appropriate in coalitions, partnerships, and forums that help the association in pursuit of relevant policy and political objectives. Develops and oversees the department’s annual budget along with the association’s political action committees.

Served as the senior advisor to Secretary Rokita on all political, legislative, policy, communications, and administrative matters. Managed the activities of the office, its four divisions, 70 plus employees, and the office’s multimillion dollar budget. Directly managed the lobbying efforts of the office with the Indiana General Assembly. Oversaw major public policy initiatives (i.e. Rethinking Redistricting), public education campaigns, and the overall communications strategy for the office. Responsible for the development and implementation of the office’s annual strategic plan. Represent Secretary Rokita at speeches, meetings, conferences, and various other public appearances.

Directly responsible for the company's private sector business development initiatives as well as some select public sector clients. Assisted various clients with difficult entitlement related issues. Served as the director of the company's corporate marketing and sales support department.

Directed and was responsible for gaining the required zoning approvals for approximately 15,000 single family residential lots in over 30 communities in multiple states, lobbied local or state governmental agencies in multiple states on issues directly relevant to the company’s interest as well as on issues important to the entire housing industry, served on the company’s Leadership Team, which was accountable for developing and implementing the company’s strategic initiatives, implemented and executed the crisis communications strategy as needed, oversaw all aspects of the company’s corporate public relations and media relations strategy, developed and managed the company’s annual public relations budget, and was the primary media spokesman and company representative for $500 million company.

Administered a special federal level grant program which focused on developing and incorporating relevant aspects of the housing industry into the core academic curriculum at area high schools to raise awareness about careers in the homebuilding industry. Managed all facets of the program including soliciting and coordinating association resources, recruiting participants, meeting reporting requirements and handling communications initiatives.

Developed the political budget in excess of $3 million for the campaign, coordinated the targeting and voter analysis program in all 92 counties in Indiana, implemented and managed the primary and general election candidate research, coordinated the development of the absentee voter program, and developed the voter contact program which included the enhancement of the statewide voter file and the extensive mail and telephone programs.

Served as a consultant to 12 different campaigns for the Indiana General Assembly, worked with legislative candidates and the legislative caucuses on targeted races across Indiana, coordinated all fundraising activities, major donor meetings, direct mail, and events raising approximately $500,000, development and implemented a bimonthly fax broadcast network that reached approximately 5,000 opinion leaders, created and implemented the finance and strategic plans for the IFFC, developed a legislative agenda and media relations program for the Republican Party, coordinated the IFFC’s media relations campaign throughout Indiana

Lobbied local and state elected officials regarding issues pertinent to the home building industry, coordinated all fundraising, direct mail, events, and the major donor program for the association’s political action committee (HOMEPAC), developed the finance and strategic plans for HOMEPAC, coordinated the association’s media relations campaign, managed national association and governmental special projects, recruited new members to the association, and developed and maintained the HOMEPAC computer database

Coordinated the fundraising operations, telemarketing, direct mail, and events, which raised in excess of $1.3 million, oversaw all paid media, television, radio and direct mail, managed a full time staff of five people, served as the campaign’s spokesman with the district and Indianapolis media, and coordinated the grassroots organization of over 500 volunteers.

Coordinated the Congressman’s instate schedule, traveled extensively with the Congressman within the state, prepared and coordinated all meeting and event briefing materials, arranged all town hall meetings, public appearances, speaking engagements, scheduling correspondence, and special projects, and assisted district constituents with issue research and governmental problems.

Managed the daily operations of the campaign, coordinated all of the paid and earned media, created and implemented the direct mail program, oversaw the fundraising and scheduling operation, developed campaign strategy, and coordinated the grassroots organization and the get-out-the-vote operation.
