Business development work most notably included: co-leading the negotiation of HealthPartners’ national affiliation with CIGNA, effective January 1, 2007, resulting in regional competitive advantage, national sales success, and substantial medical and pharmacy membership growth; the acquisition of WOW Orthodontics; and leading a collaboration of 13 retail and health system pharmacies to combine resources and buying power to negotiate with pharmacy wholesalers and generic manufacturers, saving tens of millions of dollars annually for the organizations.

Ultimately engineered the renegotiation of Aetna Behavioral Health’s major outsourcing contract with Magellan, which included a role in their financial restructuring, and the asset acquisition framework to enable Aetna to fully own their future behavioral health solutions. Upon completion of this work, the business was turned over to a full-time senior executive.
Vice President, Dental Operations
Executive in charge of the business beginning in 1997, CFO from 1995 to 1997. Accountable for the overall operational results, strategic planning and profitability of the Dental business, with more than 8 million members and $800 million in revenue.
