I am a commercial/business litigator, trial lawyer, appellate counsel, advisor, and problem-solver with more than 36 years of experience. I employ deep knowledge of the law and insurance and financial services industries, strategic thinking, and honed trial and appellate advocacy to produce creative solutions and outstanding results for our clients. Clients regularly turn to my team for counsel and representation in challenging and high-stakes business and insurance matters. It has been my privilege to work with some of the most dedicated and talented boards, CEOs, senior management, legal counsel, and insurance and reinsurance claims and litigation professionals in the world. I have had the good fortune to work on a broad range of emerging issues and issues impacting the portfolio interests of sophisticated companies (corporations, insurers, ceding companies, and reinsurers) and to be counsel in complex, high stakes, and high profile trials, appeals, mediations, and arbitrations across the country. My professional passion and commitment are focused on delivering world class counsel and representation to our clients and on providing the outstanding, innovative, cost-effective representation our clients rely upon to meet challenges and take advantage of opportunities presented to them. I also am committed to public and community service and civil rights. It has been my honor to serve on the National Board of Selectors of the Jefferson Awards for Public Service (the Nobel Prize for Public Service), to serve on numerous charitable boards and committees, and to write and speak frequently on legal and litigation topics; business, insurance and reinsurance issues; and matters relating to public service and health advocacy. I was humbled to be named to the inaugural list of Midwest Trailblazers by The American Lawyer magazine. The list recognizes 50 professionals from 12 Midwestern states "who have moved the needle in the legal industry" and "are truly agents of change” based upon my "high-profile, complex insurance coverage cases nationwide, which resulted in precedent setting rulings that have altered insurance law" and to be named to Crain's Chicago Business 2024 Notable Leaders in Accounting, Consulting, & Law.
