Together we collaborated on ways to enhance the value and benefits NVSBC provides to Veteran Small Business Owners.In this role, I am spearheading the following initiatives:• 2021-2024 STRATEGIC PLAN — Utilizing the Objectives and Key Results (OKR) strategic planning framework, we developed and are implementing a plan to deliver significantly enhanced Advocacy, Training, and Networking to Veteran entrepreneurs. The plan was unanimously approved by the Board of Directors. We also implemented and I am now managing an OKR tracking system that ensures all activities and contributions from both volunteer and paid staff are moving the overall strategic plan forward.• LEGISLATIVE AGENDA — Crafted the organizations 2021-2024 Federal advocacy strategy to define and promote NVSBC’s top 5 legislative priorities. Together with the Executive Director, the National Board of Directors, and our lobbying firm, we are successfully delivering the organization game-changing Federal lobbying initiatives. Those efforts are primarily focused on House & Senate committees that impact small and Veteran-owned businesses (HVAC, SVAC, SSSB&EC, HSBC). Our Legislative Agenda includes broader issues pertinent to all small business firms (category management negative impact, CMMC and other unfunded mandates, etc.) as well as SDVOSB-specific issues (CVE migration from VA to SBA, moving SDVOSB set aside from 3% to 5%).• ANNUAL CONFERENCES — Reimagining how NVSBC can deliver enhanced value that’s aligned with our new strategic plan and legislative agenda to VETS21 and VETS22 attendees.     Originally founded as the DC Veterans Network (DCVN), the organization was merged to become the DC Metro Chapter (DCMC) of NVSBC in March 2017. Today, NVSBC is the nation’s largest networking, training, and advocacy organization dedicated to advancing Federal business opportunities for Veteran-Owned and Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SD/VOSB) entrepreneurs. The DC Metro Chapter was created in response to an outpouring of interest among Veteran entrepreneurs for a Veteran-focused networking organization in the nations capitol. Channeling this energy, I recruited and led the Chapter leadership team to deliver high quality events which have assisted thousands of Federal small business entrepreneurs to expand their outreach and secure Federal business through teaming and new contracts. During this period, I successfully:► Organized and hosted over 80 monthly Chapter dinner meetings. With average attendance of 150-200 Veteran small business owners and guests per month, over 15,000 attendees participated in these events.► Secured highly sought after & high-visibility Federal keynote speakers, in addition to audience acquisition, public relations, and stakeholder communications. ► Facilitated the creation of the Chapter’s match-making program to connect large and small Federal business contractors for teaming, contracting, and networking. This group spun off and is now govmates.com ► Envisioned and created an afternoon Boot Camp training series preceding every monthly dinner meeting. Over 100 Boot Camp programs were delivered to thousands of participants with speakers from government and industry. The Chapter has suspended activities due to the COVID pandemic and is pending revitalization. In the meantime I have pivoted into a new role, supporting the National Executive Director as NVSBC develops and executes its new strategic direction.
