Dovetail; the customer insights platform used by researchers, product managers, and designers all around the world to better understand their customers and improve the things they build. In this role, I worked across almost every part of the business and engineering; acting as a catch-all SME across a wide breadth of domains including infrastructure, video streaming, text editing & collaboration, backend, & frontend development, and used that experience to coach and grow the rest of the 30+ people engineering team.

Worked as part of the Editing Team; a steward of Canva’s core editing experience and front end editing platform that empowers Canva teams to build impactful features for their 170 million users. ∙ Canva Docs Spike team: Technical lead to build an entirely new product vertical for Canva. Involved working closely with the CTO and a team of 4, to extend Canva's platform to support document editing while leveraging the existing Design editor functionality. ∙ Tables in Canva: Led the technical spike and implementation for one of the most requested community features. Involved working with the CTO to iterate on a collab-friendly schema design, accomodating the existing text editing framework in the approach, building the initial UI, and working through the complexities of ensuring performant rendering across browsers. ∙ Rearchitected text editing to decouple content-editable text editing from Canva's in-house "TextElement" node. This laid the foundations to support text editing inside of table-cells and in custom shapes.

Worked for the MongoDB Charts team in Sydney, primarily responsible for building out MongoDB Atlas's data visualisation platform "Charts". On this team I've: ∙ Been a technical lead working closely with PM & design to ship "Embedded Charts"; allowing customers to embed and interact with their data anywhere they want. Officially launched the feature by presenting a 20 minute demo at MongoDB's annual developer conference MongoDB Live. ∙ Advocated for and improved the FE engineering practices in the team; centralized engineering work in a monorepo + incrementally introduced Typescript into the codebase. Organised monthly technical knowledge sharing sessions with the Engineering team.

Member of the Frontend Platform team. This team is responsible for designing and building shared React UI components to be used by the rest of the company.I worked on the Editor sub-team that is responsible for designing and building an entirely new Editor experience for Atlassian's products from scratch. Whether it was the comment-box in Bitbucket, the page-editor in Confluence, or the edit-issue screen in Jira, the goal is to create a seamless experience across all these different products by providing the products with a "drop-in" React component.On this team I've:∙ Built out infrastructure to monitor the bundle-size / page-load performance of our React components over time. This allows us to identify any long-term trends, or short regressions, that affect that size of our components.∙ Pitched, and led the re-design of the entire code-blocks experience in the Atlassian editor.∙ Led the delivery of page-layouts for Confluence∙ Worked closely with our consumers (Bitbucket/Jira/Confluence) to manage the transition between their old editor components, and new components.Technologies used: Typescript, React, Javascript, ProseMirror, Jest, Bolt
