    The EC2 Capacity team exists to deliver on its two primary, and often opposing, tenets: Intelligently Elastic and Relentlessly Efficient. Our first job is to deliver correctly configured virtual compute resources of the type and amount necessary, at the exact moment required. Simultaneously, we must provide technology innovation to relentlessly drive efficiencies used to lower costs to our customers. At the scale that EC2 operates, manual processes and procedures quickly break down. We need a leader that can develop intelligent systems for monitoring of customer instances and EC2 servers, automate the identification of root cause for a myriad of physical and software issues, drive change across a complex and changing AWS organization, work with external and internal customers to optimize their experience and ultimately maximize the sellable capacity available to EC2 customers. Our team operates on the boundary between the physical and virtual, and our engineers must navigate classic system engineering, develop sophisticated algorithms, balance customer needs, and design distributed systems at tremendous scale.
