I have Four years experience with the Florida Forest Service as an Airplane Pilot. I was responsible for conducting aerial patrols across Northwest Florida detecting smoke columns and determining whether they were authorized prescribed/pile burns or potential wildfires. I would direct firefighters to the location of wildlfires and assist them with fighting the fire by giving them guidance, escape routes, resource locations, and any pertinent information to help protect life and property. I also conducted Southern Pine Beetle Surveys as well as Best Managment Practices compliance surveys. When I was not flying, I helped train new wildland firefighters, assisted with prescribed fires, assisted with endangered species management, timber marking, forest inventory, and various other land managment tasks.
