Responsible for development of Andesa’s Corporate Life Insurance Platform. Led the redesign of the persistence layers using Hibernate, and the application server port from Websphere to JBoss. Managed the hiring/vetting process of new engineers. Setup version control using Subversion. Setup development standards, including the implementation of a standard workspace for all developers using Eclipse. Involved in the development of a new GWT-based interface. Setup Linux (CentOS) systems for their application servers.

Responsible for TiVA, BIPT’s premier all-in-one insurance software. Used by the largest insurance provider in Florida, Citizens Insurance, as well as various smaller insurance firms throughout the state. Responsible for the design and implementation of TiVA’s new frameworks, including the service framework, persistence framework, logging framework, reporting framework, and testing framework. Also responsible for refactoring code from VB6 to Java. Designed and implemented new persistence framework for entire TiVA architecture using Hibernate and Spring Frameworks. Designed and implemented distributed report subsystem using EJB architecture. Designed and implemented Web Services for TiVA. Designed and implemented build scripts using ANT 1.6.5, which interfaced with Visual Sourcesafe and Clearcase source control. Designed and implemented Log4J as part of the Apache Commons Logging Framework. Designed and implemented JUnit and Cactus Testing Framework. Responsible for UML modeling of all new designs. Oversaw all Technical Requirements Documents from each developer. Responsible for mentoring developers (senior/mid/junior) and providing CTO with the technical guidance needed for TiVA. Responsible for interviewing technical candidates for all levels of the development team. Used Websphere Application Developer 5.1, Websphere Rational Architect 6.0, Rational Clearcase, Visual Studio, JReport, ReportMill, Eclipse 2.1, Eclipse 3.0, Pervasive Business Integrator, Enterprise Architect.

Responsible for providing a cohesive J2EE middleware architecture for origin-to-edge Web services networking. Technology platforms included Weblogic Application Server 6.1 and 7.0, Jetty 4.0.1, PostgreSQL 7.1.3, Oracle 8.1.7. Integrated frameworks included Apache SOAP 2.2, Apache AXIS 1.1, Apache ANT 1.5, Apache Cactus, Apache Avalon, Apache Log4J, Apache Struts. CMP/CMR 2.0 / EJB 2.0, as well as JDO were used in the design.

Built a Location Server around the Sun Microsystems’ J2EE architecture. Used stateless session EJBs, bean-managed persistence read-only entity EJBs which reloaded via message-driven beans/JMS for cache coherency. Built API around JavaBeans and wrapped with SOAP/XML. Developed build system around ANT. Worked with a team of 5-10 engineers and scientists to build CLoUDS (Client Locator and User Discovery System) and GXpert. CLoUDS was the first real-time, non-loosening spatial indexing server which enabled instant notification about who and what was around a particular location. GXpert was a rules-based engine which evaluated a mobile user’s location updates and triggered asynchronous events within the Location Server based off of a set of rules that the mobile user pre-defined. Designed GVoice, which was the first voice-activated Mobile Positioning Center, designed using Natural Microsystems’ T1 boards, Nuance’s advanced speech recognition technology, and Fonix’s speech synthesis tools. GVoice allowed mobile users to opt-in their locations, a crucial technology needed before FCC-mandated E911 services were available in the United States. Worked with various companies from Europe, Asia, and the U.S. to provide an abstract software development kit for designing Location-Based Applications. Filed patents on CLoUDS, GXpert, and GVoice. Represented Gravitate Inc. at CTIA (Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association) in Santa Clara, CA and Las Vegas, NV. Developed relations with leading wireless companies in both the U.S. and in Asia. Provided technical expertise for corporate development and business relations.

Lead engineer for the network adapter development team of Radisys Corporation. Developed various CompactPCI network adapter designs such as the Tomcat (64-bit intelligent multifunction adapter for T1/E1, Ethernet, H.110, V.35, X.21, RS-232 protocols), Hornet, Hornet Rear I/O, Spitfire, Remora, and Remora Rear I/O. Led development on the Falcon card, a 64-bit PCI Ethernet card which was used in various SS7 and Voice-over-IP designs. Helped develop various PCI network adapters and was solely responsible for the development and integration of the ‘Guardband System’, a multi-functional, custom automated temperature/voltage chamber.

Worked for the ARTIC Co-Processor Design Team at IBM in Boca Raton, Florida. Specifically, involved with the DTXA Telecommunications Project (DirectTalk) which utilized Texas Instruments' TMS320C62x generation DSP's, Intel's i960 co-processor, and Vantis' MACH PLD.

Worked on the Millibot Project, formerly known as the Cyberscout Project, developing the communications protocol for the asynchronous secure wireless network. The final proposed algorithm was a token-passing protocol with multiple repeaters forming a peer-to-peer network. This project is currently being utilized by the United States Marines.

President and acting CEO of a privately owned company while attending Carnegie Mellon University. BlackBox was a transactional platform written for the world wide web, which enabled users to customize and order a variety of freeware graphics, songs, and other material. Proprietary applications written by BlackBox enabled the real-time design and delivery of CD-ROMs for the user.

Worked for Telxon as an engineering intern. Responsibilities include high-level programming, web development, RF Integration (SPREAD and Freq. Hopping), wireless and mobile systems, and WWW systems support. Programming includes advanced HTML, Common Gateway Interface, Perl, C, C++, and Visual Basic. Worked closely with new products such as their 1124DX prototype unit, designing the demo application to be shown to the public. This work can now be seen at companies such as AVIS, USPS, and Northrop Grumman Corporation.

Worked as a consultant, providing integration of AutoCAD and various other tools into their network. Designed and implemented various marketing products which ran in DOS. Harvard Graphics was used to provide an interactive marketing guide to the company. The guide was implemented as a distributable software piece that could be handed to potential customers. Also provided networking support and helped purchase various pieces of hardware and software for the company’s needs.
