Following the closure of the DWS Ltd Perth office, British Telecom (BT) considered me a valuable member of the management team, and so contracted me directly. While working at BT in this period, my main focus has been on the initiation and PRINCE2 delivery of a number of large-scale major deliveries across the core application suite at Fiona Stanley hospital.

My role as IT Project Manager was to successfully control software project deliveries, while managing the budget, schedule, quality, scope, resources, risks and issues. The projects I managed followed the waterfall methodology, using elements of PRINCE 2 for best practice. We utilised an offshore development model, with the code implementation and testing being delivered from a supplier in Bangalore, India.

The focus of the graduate scheme was on three of the key roles within the delivery of IT projects; Business Analysis, Development Leadership and Project Management. This allowed me to experience the breadth of delivery, from the analytical challenges of eliciting requirements, through to the thought leadership and conflict resolution demands of project management.

Within my third year at University I undertook an industrial placement with IBM. My main responsibility was to support the hardware and software requirements of the IBM professionals, whose primary function was to sell solutions to IBM’s clients.
