In June 2014 I began my current role as a Community Ranger for the Department of Conservation in Whanganui. I also provide field assistance to the Biodiversity and Recreation teams, education, technical advice and support to community groups and schools and collaborative relationship management for Kia Wharite, a large scale biodiversity project with Horizons, Iwi, landowners and others in the area of the Whanganui National Park. Lincoln University, Canterbury

In this position I undertook research on the perceptions and recreational use of a farm park on Banks Peninsula as a summer scholar. In this role I researched the historical and recreational background of the park, developing and implementing surveys for multiple parks on Banks Peninsula and concluded with a written report and presentation on the research findings to multiple stakeholder organisations.

South Island, New Zealand

Driving and guiding visitors around the South Island wilderness for up to 13 days.

While at the Outward Bound school in Anakiwa, New Zealand, I managed teams of adults as they completed physical, mental and social challenges in the outdoors, including cutter sailing, off track hiking, white water kayaking and team building. As a duty manager I was responsible for the day to day running of the school, leading teams of instructors to ensure operational and curriculum tasks were completed in a safe and supportive manner.
