I come from a military family, and spent the first 13 years of my life living and travelling throughout Europe and Asia. Having the opportunities to be brought up under the auspices of many different cultures and contexts created both a strong passion for language, culture, and communication as well as instilled a well honed adaptability and drive within me from an early age. I have a number of years' experience working with service and volunteering based organizations such as: the BSA (wherein I earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was a featured speaker at the Friend's of Scouting Annual Fundraiser in 2013), Roots & Shoots USA (wherein I had the utmost privilege of introducing Dr. Jane Goodall at a speaking engagement), and then various social activism (LGBTQ+, anti-racism, community outreach) groups throughout my time at university (mainly through my involvement with the intersectional service-focused Greek organization, Theta Pi Sigma).Ultimately, my highest ambition is to be able to work in the creative field, and to be able to hold space for people that can foster critical analysis and compassion. Practically, my fields of study have provided me with a skillset to succeed in a variety of creative, relational, analytical, and transformative contexts. However, I believe that my best utility resides in my commitment and flexibility. I am always looking for ways to cultivate whatever skills are necessary to succeed and be ever improving no matter the work environment. With regard to professional experience, I was able to hold down jobs in retail and food service for my entire time in undergrad. These jobs, while unfortunately not as professionally relevant, provided me with opportunities to exercise soft skills, patience, and become accustomed to a team environment; which funneled directly into the planning and logistics roll that I took on during my senior year within Theta Pi Sigma. Outside of a university or customer service context, I have worked as a Back Stage Theatre Technician, a hobbyist podcast editor and co-host, and have had my writing presented by the SLA (Sociolinguistics Association) and published in a number of local poetry journals.In the future, I hope to be able to explore the fields communication and language in whatever industries that I can; whether that be in a formal context in publishing or marketing, or in a social context in teaching or creating media. Either way, I feel that the unique journey of my life has provided me with all the tools necessary to succeed wherever I find myself. Maybe that could be at your company!
